The reputed commentator opened up about the T20I future of KL Rahul. He made a bold claim saying that BCCI has realised that they have got more better and exciting options than him in the shortest format of the game, especially with the T20 World Cup 2024 around the corner.

Sanjay Manjrekar admitted that Rahul has been brilliant in Tests and ODIs but things aren’t looking good for him in the T20Is.  He said that selectors aren’t even looking at him. India notably has given opportunities to young guys in Jaiswal, Gaikwad, Tilak and many more.

KL Rahul last played for India in the shortest format of the game in the T20 World Cup 2022. After that, he has been sidelined from the setup. He didn’t have a great tournament and after that failed to set the stage on fire in IPL as well.

KL Rahul hasn’t been named in the Indian squad to the T20I series against South Africa. This gives a real indication that he isn’t in plans for the T20 World Cup 2024. It seems that BCCI has moved on from him as they are giving longer ropes to youngsters ahead of the mega event.

While things are great for him in the T20Is, there has been no doubt about KL Rahul’s ability in the ODIs. He will be next seen in action during the ODI series against South Africa. The keeper-batter has been given the responsibility to captain the team.

KL Rahul was in the staggering touch in the ODI World Cup 2023. He’s a beast in ODIs, batting in the middle order. The three-game ODI series will start on December 17. He’s also part of the Indian squad for the Test series.
