Australia qualify for the semi-final of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, points table after match 17 BAN vs AUS
Australia are through to the semi-final as they thumped Bangladesh by ten wickets in the 17th match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on Thursday. Despite winning the toss and batting first, Bangladesh managed just 198 for nine and then Australia made fun of the chase, winning by ten wickets and inside 25 overs.
Bangladesh had a poor outing with the bat and they couldn’t make the most of the batting conditions. Opener Fargana Hoque was the first wicket to fall but Rubya Haider (44) played a vital hand but failed to get to her fifty. However, wickets kept falling regularly. Australian bowlers kept piling up the pressure as the batting team lost half of their side inside 35 overs.
They were looking terrible and it seemed that they would get out under 150 but thanks to Sobhana Mostary (66*), who slammed a fifty, and powered Bangladesh to 198 for nine. For Australia, every bowler apart from Darcie Brown took wickets.
Australia came up with a dominating effort in the chase. Openers in Alyssa Healy (113*) and Phoebe Litchfield (84*) came out all guns blazing and were all over the opposition.
Skipper Healy slammed her second consecutive ton, while Litchfield hit her maiden ton in the World Cup. The duo added an unbeaten 202 and took Australia home in a dominating way.
