Australia vs India: Former Australian cricketer Glenn McGrath raises questions on opener David Warner’s fitness. A comeback from India in the second Melbourne Test, defeating Australia by eight wickets pointed out the Aussies batting lineup.

India under the eyes of stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane, India bounced back leaving behind all the odds of not having their key players. The win against Australia at Melbourne is now regarded as India’s best win in red-ball cricket.

After the second test, the hosts took account of their problems. The opening combinations of Matthew Wade and Joe Burns was not doing well for Australia. Although Wade played some key innings but Joe Burns’s regular failure put Australia to backfoot.

The Aussies management was keen on calling opener David Warner back after a string of poor opening stands. However, that didn’t work for Australia too as the opener walked back with a single-digit score in the first innings of the third match.

Australian head coach Justin Langer last week told that opener David Warner will come back who has certainly recovered from his groin niggle. Will Pucovski who suffered his 9th concussion has also done well in the past week and he will be the other opener.

Warner looked “Jittery”: Glenn McGrath

Former Australian pacer Glenn McGrath talking to Sony Network raised questions on Warner’s fitness as the batsmen looked “jittery”.

“It was a good toss to win as the surface is more on the flatter side. The fact that Will Pucovski and David Warner are back to the playing 11. I didn’t feel Warner was fine enough, he looked a little rusty and jittery. So, there is a concern about how his fitness level is,” McGrath said.

“Will Pucovski on the other hand had some luck as he got a couple of lives but I thought he looked good. He scored a good half-century and looked like he belonged to the team just like Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne,” former Australian added.

Labuschagne and Pucovski had a good partnership after the early fall of David Warner. Labuschagne fell 9 runs short of his century while Steve Smith looked confident today.
