IPL 2022: The three times IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be under a serious doubt on whom to retain and whom not. The franchise has got some clinical strikers of the cricket ball. Until now the franchise believed in retaining the core group and bringing in some players from the auction table to complement the core. Moeen Ali:

The English all-rounder Moeen Ali did wonders for CSK after getting sold to the franchise for a whopping INR 7 Crores in the IPL 2021 Auctions. Ali came at number three and contributed exceptionally well with the bat to power the innings midway. He kept the scoreboard ticking and was striking the ball cleanly.

At first, it was a surprise to push Suresh Raina at four and bring Moeen Ali at his place but the bold step worked for MS Dhoni-led-CSK. In 6 games for CSK in Vivo IPL 2021, Moeen Ali scored 206 runs with a strike rate of 157.25 and tonked 22 fours and 12 sixes.

Suresh Raina: 

Suresh Raina didn't have the best of IPL seasons in Vivo IPL 2021, however, he has been a consistent performer. He is amongst the highest run-getters of the IPL and also scored a good half-century in the opening game against Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2021. 

He can provide stability on the side coming at number four for CSK in absence of other senior cricketers. Although the chances of him getting retained are less, given the big names in the team, he still has a couple of more years of a good run in the IPL.

Deepak Chahar:

Deepak Chahar will be another option going forward for the retention process. He can be a deadly weapon for any team. He has delivered multiple times for his team and is quite capable of doing this time and again. His ability to swing the ball gives him an extra edge over other pacers.

He picked up 8 scalps in the seven games and had two four wickets haul. If the playing conditions suit him, he can ravage the opposition batting unit upfront and lead his side to an easy win. He can be a good option to retain using the Right To Match (RTM) card in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
