[Watch] Abhishek Sharma hits a massive six on the first ball of the chase against UAE in Asia Cup 2025

Indian Cricket Team batter Abhishek Sharma had a fantastic outing with the bat during the game against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the Asia Cup 2025. The match between the two teams took place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. 

India, which opted to field first, had a sensational outing with the ball. They bundled out the opposition for just 57 runs with all the bowlers contributing. Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 4/7, while Shivam Dube also bagged a three-wicket haul to help his team restrict the batting side to a low total. 

In the chase, everyone expected India to go hard. But, not many expected Abhishek Sharma to start the run chase with the six. With him playing match after a while, it was expected that he would look at the pitch and have a feel of it by defending the first ball. 

However, he defied all the odds and hit a gigantic six on the first ball. Haider Ali bowled a delivery full outside off, to which Abhishek got forward and lofted through the line, all the way over wide long-off, taking his team off to a flyer.

Abhishek Sharma set the tone for India in the chase as he played a brutal innings of 30 runs off 16 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 187 and also hit two fours and three sixes. Along with him, Shubman Gill (20*) also played a vital hand as India chased the target with nine wickets in hand and inside five overs. 

Even skipper Suryakumar Yadav lauded Abhishek Sharma for his heroics with the bat. He called the batter phenomenal, adding that he keeps the team ahead of him. Speaking after the game, he said:

“He is currently the World number one batter for a reason; he sets the tone, irrespective of whether we chase 200 or 50, unbelievable from him.”

Abhishek will be next seen in action when India takes on Pakistan in their next league game on 14th September in Dubai.
