Shubman Gill, who opened the innings for India, was expected to make an impact in the game and get some game time ahead of the final. However, that wasn’t the case as he bagged another low score and was back in the hut in the second over of the innings itself.
Shubman Gill got out in the second over of the innings and managed just 4 runs in the match. Since his 47 against Pakistan, he hasn’t been able to score runs and this will be a lot of concern for the team going ahead into the final against Pakistan.
A similar kind of fate unfolded for skipper Suryakumar Yadav. The right-hander has been undergoing a lean patch in the tournament and this has also been one of the biggest concerns for the side. The skipper ended his innings at just 12 runs off 13 balls.
In the last 10 innings, Suryakumar Yadav has mustered just 99 runs at an average of 12.37, and an SR of 110.0 to go with no fifties. What came as a massive surprise was that he never had a strike rate below 150 in any calendar year before 2025.
