Vivo IPL 2021: You automatically get confidence when you play alongside MS Dhoni: Sam Curran.

Vivo IPL 2021: English and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Sam Curran lavishes praise on his IPL skipper MS Dhoni as he believes that the modern-day legend has a huge impact on the game.

It is noteworthy that Dhoni earlier labelled Curran as a complete cricketer after he used him in all aspects of the game and shuffled him all over the batting lineup in the IPL 2020. From opening the batting for CSK to taking up the finisher’s role, Curran showed some great signs during the humiliating season for CSK in IPL 2020.

Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, Curran said, “A player like Dhoni, he’s got such a big presence in the game. He’s achieved so many amazing things. Naturally, you get confidence from that.”

“There’s nothing better for me as a younger player to get put in those scenarios. It wasn’t the best season for the team but you learn so much and obviously, this season when the IPL was going ahead [in India], we were second on the table,” added the all-rounder.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made a strong comeback in the IPL 2021. The team is ranked second in the points table with five wins in seven games.

“It’s a great franchise and hopefully I can contribute more in the coming years,” Curran added.

The all-rounder scalped 13 wickets in the thirteenth season of the IPL and added 186 runs with willow in hand. Talking about his IPL 2021 stats, Curran has scalped nine wickets in seven games while amassed a crucial 52 runs to finish the innings for CSK.

The cricketer further talked about the importance of the environment and being surrounded by good cricketers. He further says the year has been fruitful for him until now and gives you great confidence to carry that form.

“(Moving to Chennai) worked out pretty well in terms of coming to a team where you had Stephen Fleming as coach, MS Dhoni as captain, some big foreign players,” said Sam Curran.

“It’s just an environment where you eat and sleep cricket. You’re always around the guys and you can ask questions, see how guys train, learn new tricks. It’s an environment where you come across guys you never see in day-to-day life. It’s been fantastic for me. It gives you great confidence when you perform,” he signed off.
