Yashasvi Jaiswal Trolled for Dancing After Dropping 4 Catches in IND vs ENG Test - Fans Say ‘If Rohit Was Captain…’

Yashasvi Jaiswal was trolled heavily after India’s five-wicket defeat to England in the 1st Test at Headingley on June 24, 2025. The young batter scored a brilliant 101 in the first innings but dropped four catches, costing India dearly.

A video of him dancing with the English crowd after dropping Ben Duckett’s catch on Day 5 sparked fan outrage.

Many fans said, “If Rohit were captain, he’d be in trouble!” Despite his fielding woes, Ravichandran Ashwin defended him, citing the tough Dukes ball.

Fans are split as India heads to the next Test.

Jaiswal’s Costly Fielding Mistakes

Yashasvi Jaiswal was trolled for dropping four catches in India’s loss to England on June 24, 2025, at Headingley. His slip errors let Ben Duckett (149), Ollie Pope (106), and Harry Brook (99) pile up runs.

NDTV Sports reported Jaiswal’s four drops in England’s second innings set an unwanted record for a single Test innings. India’s eight total dropped catches let England chase 371 easily. Fans were upset, posting, “Jaiswal’s hands cost us the game!”

Viral Dance Video Sparks Anger

Yashasvi Jaiswal trolled after a video showed him dancing with English fans on Day 5, right after dropping Duckett’s catch at 97. Hindustan Times said the clip, showing Jaiswal smiling at long-on, didn’t sit well with fans.

One X post read, “If Rohit were captain, he’d have sent Jaiswal to the bench!” Fans felt his carefree mood was wrong when India was losing. The video went viral, fueling more criticism.

Ashwin Defends Young Star

Yashasvi Jaiswal trolled, but Ravichandran Ashwin came to his rescue. Ashwin told NDTV Sports, “The Dukes ball is heavy and tough to catch in cold weather.”

He explained it’s harder than SG or Kookaburra balls, urging fans to give Jaiswal a break.

Despite his 101 off 159 balls, Jaiswal’s fielding overshadowed his batting.
