The calculators have some work now! As the WPL approaches the conclusion of the group stage, the qualification and war for the minimal difference is on between the four teams of the TATA WPL 2025, with DC watching it from a safe distance.

WPL Qualification Scenario: We are into some of the last matches of the TATA WPL 2025 group stage, and we only have as the qualified team for the playoff round. In this post, we will read the WPL Qualification Scenario for every WPL team in 2025.

Let's take a look at the points table straight up:

WPL 2025 Points Table

Teams
Mat Won Lost Tied NR Pts NRR
Delhi Capitals (Q)
7 5 2 0 0 10 +0.482
5 3 2 0 0 6 +0.166
UP Warriorz
5 2 3 0 0 4 -0.124
Royal Challengers Bengaluru
6 2 4 0 0 4 -0.244
Gujarat Giants
5 2 3 0 0 4 -0.450

Now, we don't need to discuss the Delhi Capitals here. They have only one match left against the Gujarat Giants, and they are already qualified for the playoffs. Yes, a win in the last group stage match would ensure their direct ticket to the finals, and why won't they love it!

WPL Qualification Scenario of ALL teams

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)

The defending champions had a horrible home leg with four losses in four home matches. They have played 6 matches and now have just two left in the group stage to make their number good enough for the qualification.

Matches Played- 6
Won- 2
Lost- 4
NRR: -0.244
Matches left in Group Stage- 2

  • RCB vs UPW, Lucknow, March 8
  • RCB vs MI, Mumbai, March 11

RCB are pretty much alive in the contest even now. They, however, will have to win both of their remaining matches, or it is all over for them. They will have eight points if they can manage two wins from here, which might not be sufficient to ensure qualification with this NRR. They have to win big to elevate the NRR.

Mumbai Indians (MI)

The champions of the inaugural season of the WPL haven't found their footing perfectly after the first season. They did qualify for the playoff in the second season but lost to RCB in the eliminator. This season, they have lost just two matches up until now out of the five they have played and both against Delhi Capitals

Matches Played- 5
Won- 3
Lost- 2
NRR: +0.166
Matches left in Group Stage- 3

  • MI vs UP Warriorz, Lucknow, March 6
  • MI vs GG, Mumbai, March 10
  • MI vs RCB, Mumbai, March 11

Mumbai Indians are in a better condition for qualification. They have three matches still left to play, and they are capable of winning them all as two of the three matches are at their home. Winning all three games would be enough for them, or even two wins with big margins would do the job.

UP Warriorz (UPW)

The UP Warriorz are in the middle of the sea with two wins and three losses in five matches they have played. They will be hoping for three wins from here to reach a safe mark of 10 points.

Matches Played- 5
Won- 2
Lost- 3
NRR: -0.124
Matches left in Group Stage- 3

  • UPW vs GG, Lucknow, March 3
  • UPW vs MI, Lucknow, March 6
  • UPW vs RCB, Lucknow, March 8

If UPW wins all three remaining matches, they secure a playoff spot. Winning at least two, including victories over GG and RCB, also works if GG loses another game to DC or MI. If UPW beats GG but loses to MI and RCB, while GG wins against DC or MI and RCB loses to MI, a three-way tie at 6 points will occur, making NRR the deciding factor.

Gujarat Giants (GG)

Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz are on the same page when it comes to the points table. They both have won two games out of the 5 they have played. The sole difference is in the NRR.

Matches Played- 5
Won- 2
Lost- 3
NRR: -0.450
Matches left in Group Stage- 3

  • GG vs UPW, Lucknow, March 3
  • GG vs DC, Lucknow, March 7
  • GG vs MI, Mumbai, March 10

Gujarat Giants, currently last with four points, still have a playoff chance. Winning all three matches guarantees qualification, while two wins against UPW and MI could also work if UPW loses another. A big win against MI or DC could create a three-way tie at six points, making NRR crucial.
