WPL 2025: Do RCB have any chances of qualifying for the playoffs? Know the Scenarios
Tata Women's Premier League's (WPL) defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) started off the 2025 edition of the tournament on a good note as they secured wins in their first two games under the leadership of Smriti Mandhana, defeating the Gujarat Giants and two time runners-up Delhi Capitals.
But, since then things have not gone in their favor at all and they have been desperate to secure a win as they have gone on to suffer defeats in four consecutive games and have been on a four match losing streak.
Their nine wicket loss to the Delhi Capitals (DC) has worsened their Net Run Rate (NRR) but they still have a chance of making their way into the playoffs. Let us explain to you how RCB can qualify for the playoffs by finishing in the top 3.
Talking about RCB's Women's Premier League 2025 journey, in its first match it defeated Gujarat Giants by 6 wickets. In its second match, it defeated Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets.
After this, they suffered defeats versus Mumbai Indians, UP Warriors, Gujarat Giants and Delhi Capitals. After losing their fourth consecutive match, the Defending Champions have dropped to the fourth position in the points table. They have 4 points and their net run rate is in minus (-0.244).
RCB's chances of reaching the WPL 2025 playoffs
All teams will play 8 matches in the group stage of Women's Premier League 2025. RCB has 2 matches left. They first have to play against UP Warriors on 8 March. Their second and final match is against Mumbai Indians. To keep their hopes of reaching the playoffs alive, they need to win both these matches first.
If RCB wins both the matches, they will have 8 points to their name. They will also have to improve its net run rate, for which they will need big wins. In such a situation, the results of the matches of UP, Gujarat, Mumbai will also affect their chances. If RCB loses one match, they will be out of the playoff race of the Tata Women's Premier League.
RCB needs this to qualify
If the Gujarat Giants lose both of their remaining matches, then they will just have 6 points to their name. Mumbai Indians will qualify by defeating UP and Gujarat and getting 10 points. Now RCB will win both matches and get 8 points. In this case, UP will be left with only 4 points. In this situation, RCB will come in the top 3 and qualify.
