Who is Dhruv Jurel? Father, the hero of Kargil war, kept his son away from cricket

Dhruv Jurel, who came to bat at number seven in the ongoing Ranchi Test match against England, scored 90 runs in India’s first inning. Earlier, he had made his debut in the Rajkot Test, where he played a brilliant inning of 46 runs. The situation of the Indian team was serious in the fourth test match, but Dhruv created a stir in the cricket world by playing his inning of 90 runs.

The 23-year-old wicketkeeper batsman played an important inning of 90 runs, comprising six fours and four sixes in the fourth test. The special thing about his innings was that he formed partnerships with lower-order batsmen. According to media reports, the team management is very impressed with his performance. It is believed that his place in the playing 11 in the last Test (7–11 March) is confirmed.

Dhruv Jurel, who was born in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, in 2001, has not had an easy path to this position. The story of his struggle is motivational for young athletes. The 22-year-old player’s father did not want him to be a cricketer. He wanted his son to serve his country in the same way that he did. Dhruv’s father, Nem Singh, was in the army and fought in the Kargil War.

While in Army School, he began attending swimming camps, but he was more interested in cricket than swimming. Dhruv used to play cricket at school during swimming classes. He enjoyed cricket so much that he changed his name from swimmer to cricketer.

Dhruv was chosen to represent India’s under-19 team in the 2020 World Cup. Dhruv never looked back after this. He was also named vice-captain of the national Under-19 team in 2020. Dhruv’s team lost to Bangladesh in the Under-19 World Cup final, but he won the Under-19 Asia Cup as captain. Dhruv began his career bowling off-spin, but later switched to wicket-keeping and impressed everyone. In addition to being a middle-order batsman, he became a wicketkeeper.

Dhruv has played 15 first-class matches for Uttar Pradesh 2022, scoring 790 runs, including a century and five half-centuries. Dhruv has also competed in 10 List-A and 23 T-20 matches. Rajasthan Royals (RR) included him in their team during the IPL 2022 mega auction for a base price of Rs 20 lakh.

The victory of the Indian team in the ongoing fourth Test match between India and England seems almost certain. By the end of the third day’s play, the Indian team had scored 40 runs in just eight overs without losing any wicket. Rohit and Co. need 152 runs to win the Ranchi Test.

In the second innings, the Indian spinners came as a threat to the English batsmen. Indian spinners took a total of 10 wickets for England. Senior spinner Ashwin took five wickets for 51 runs in 15.5 overs, while mystery spinner Kuldeep Yadav took four wickets and Jadeja took one wicket. In the second inning, the English batsmen were all out for just 145 runs.
