What will happen if India pulls out of the game against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025?

There are chances that the match between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 might get cancelled.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) recently announced the schedule of the Asia Cup 2025. The tournament will be played from September 9–28 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and will be crucial for teams in their preparations for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

A total of eight teams will be taking part in the Asia Cup 2025, and they have been divided into groups of four teams each. India, Pakistan, Oman and UAE are placed in Group A, while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong are in Group B.

The match between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 is scheduled to take place on 14th September. However, clouds are looming over the future of the game due to the political tensions between India and Pakistan over the last few months.

Many have urged BCCI to boycott the game against Pakistan, and this comes after the Pahalgam terror attack. There are chances that both the arch-rivals might face each other thrice in the Asia Cup 2025 if they both manage to reach the final of the tournament.

What happens if India decides not to play against Pakistan?

There are chances that the match between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 might get cancelled. This is because recently India Champions pulled out of the game against Pakistan Champions in the World Championship of Legends (WCL). They pulled out twice of the tournament, once in the league stage and once in the semi-final.

As per the various reports, it is learned that if India decides to pull out, the game won't be considered cancelled, as the ACC is in charge of the tournament. Instead, the game will be considered a forfeit.

In that case, Pakistan will receive points in the event of a forfeit, and they will be declared the winners and will move into the next stage.
