Virat Kohli's seventh Indian Premier League century went into vain as the Gujarat Titans, riding on Shubman Gill's century, crushed Royal Challengers Bangalore's dreams to qualify for the playoffs.

Even though MI won the game, the defending champions' victory over RCB was necessary for their playoff berth to be secured. The RCB vs GT match was delayed due to rain but as the event started, RCB batted first and Virat took on the flight when he started to blast over GT bowlers. Virat amassed 101* runs in 61 balls which helped RCB to reach the 197-run mark.

GT on chase lost Saha early in the 3rd over. Gill stood there and replicated what Kohli did in the first Innings. He too smoked 104 off just 52 balls with the winning six and handed RCB not only a loss but also the elimination ticket.

The moment Gill struck the game-winning six to lead GT to victory and help them earn their second straight IPL playoff ticket, MI players who were glued to their televisions began to rejoice.

In Qualifier 1, GT is going to face CSK and the winner will proceed to the finals. MI will lock horns against LSG in the Eliminators and the winner of that match will head to Qualifier 2 where they will battle the loser of Qualifier 1. The winner will head to the final.
