Virat Kohli is set to return to domestic 50-over cricket after a long time, he will be playing for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, which will start from December 24, 2025. Virat Kohli will be playing only the initial few matches for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as the IND vs NZ ODI Series 2025 will start from January 11, 2026.

Virat Kohli last played a List-A match in India’s domestic circuit in 2013, when he represented Delhi against India Blue in the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy. Since then, he was actively playing International cricket, but now he is retired from Test and T20I cricket.

So, if Virat Kohli has to play the 2027 ODI World Cup, he consistently needs to play in domestic and international cricket. This will help Kohli to remain consistent and keep his best form for the World Cup; however, it’s quite a long time, but he needs to play on a regular basis.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-2026 is scheduled to start from December 24, and Delhi will be playing its first match of the tournament against Andhra Pradesh in Bengaluru. All of Delhi’s matches will start at 9:00 AM (IST).

Delhi were initially scheduled to play their Vijay Hazare Trophy Matches at Alur, but the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) later shifted the fixtures to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This decision was taken after Virat Kohli confirmed his participation in the tournament.
