UPW vs MI: Two in two for UP Warriorz, thump Mumbai Indians by 22 runs to earn important points

UP Warriorz carried on their form from the last game and registered their second straight win in the WPL 2026. They thrashed the Mumbai Indians by 22 runs at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Saturday. Put into bat, UP posted a massive total of 187 for eight, which Mumbai failed to chase.

UP’s woes of opening partnership continued as Kiran Navgire bagged a golden duck. But, captain Meg Lanning (70) and Phoebe Litchfield (61) made sure that they didn’t let Mumbai take the momentum after an early wicket. The Australian pair made Mumbai bowlers look clueless, adding 119 for the second wicket.

After their solid stand, Harleen Deol (25) and Chloe Tryon (21) did further damage. Both played important hands that powered UP to the total of 187 for eight. For Mumbai, Amelia Kerr picked three wickets.

Mumbai looked torrid in the chase right from the start. They lost the top three in Hayley Matthews, Sajeevan Sajana and Nat Sciver-Brunt inside the first seven overs and were left at 44 for three. Soon after that, Nicola Carey and Harmanpreet Kaur perished too as UP asserted complete authority over the game.

With the team under pressure, Amelia Kerr (49) and Amanjot Kaur led the rescue charge and revived the hopes of MI fans. The Kerr-Kaur duo added 83 runs together, but the wicket of Kaur in the 19th over titled game in favour of UP again. Mumbai managed only 165 for six as UP won the game by 22 runs.

After match 9, UPW vs MI, the Smriti Mandhana-led side is still at the top spot on the points table. Mumbai Indians are second followed by Gujarat Giants at third spot. UP are win moved to fourth, while Delhi Capitals are in the last spot.
