The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 kick-started with a staggering encounter between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi International Stadium. It was a dream start for the Hardik Pandya-led side as they continued from where they left off last season and begin their new season’s campaign on a high note.

They mark their first win of the season by 5 wickets as they displayed brilliant batting and bowling performance. Based on a staggering bowling performance by Rashid Khan, Mohammad Shami and Alzarri Joseph, they restricted the opposition to a total of 178 runs. However, after that Shubman Gill oozed his class and smashed a half-century. A cameo from other batters then helped GT outclass CSK and win the game by 5 wickets.

Two Changes that Gujarat Titans (GT) might make for their second match despite a win against Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

The win against Chennai Super Kings in the opener of the tournament was a testimony of Gujarat Titans have fared since the last season. Although it was a new perfect game for them but few concerns were there too. They are next slated to play Delhi Capitals on 4th April and it’s likely that they can make a few changes as well. As the game is a few days away from now, let’s take a look at two changes that Gujarat Titans (GT) might make for their second match despite a win against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

1. Matthew Wade in place of Kane Williamson

One forced change that Gujarat might make in their second game against Delhi Capitals is they can replace Kane Williamson with Matthew Wade. The Kiwi batter suffered a knee injury in the first game while fielding and it is learned that he has been ruled out of the tournament. Therefore with Miller not being available there for the second game, Wade will be the first choice to walk into the XI. The Australian keeper-batted played a crucial role for GT last year and chipped in with handy contributions. It’ll be an opportunity for Made to lock his spot in the team and give a headache to the team management.

2. Jayant Yadav in place of Yash Dayal

It’s fair to say that Gujarat Titans had plenty of fast-bowling options in the first game and going to Delhi would mean that they can curtail it. The Delhi pitch is traditionally a slow wicket and teams prefer playing spinners on that surface. Therefore, the Hardik Pandya-led side can look to replace Yash Dayal with Jayant Yadav. The left-arm spinner has been quite economical in the league and has performed well in the limited opportunities that he got.
