The Ashes 2025-26 started on a high note as both England and Australia were engaged in a high-profile battle. In what was a big shock, the match just ended in two days with Australia winning the match by eight wickets in hand at the Perth Stadium in Perth.

The Perth Test, which started with the bowling brilliance of both teams, ended with the mastery of Travis Head. The batter slammed a brutal hundred and hit a brutal ton to chase the challenging target of 205 runs inside 30 overs. 

However, despite winning the first Test against England, Australia have suffered a massive blow. Cricket Australia will be facing an estimated loss of more than $3 million from ticket revenue for days three and four. As per the reports, the third day was sold out as well.

The first two days of the Perth Test saw 101,514 people attending the match. 51,531 were present on Friday and 49,983 on Saturday, surpassing the record set of 96,463 in Perth last year when India won in four days. 

As a part of their policy, Cricket Australia has to give a refund to the fans and this will see them facing a massive loss. Last month, during their annual general meeting, CA announced a loss of $11.3m and this will add more to their woes. 

Speaking after the game, Travis Head was also disappointed with the match getting ended in just two days

“Feel sorry for the people who can’t come tomorrow. I think it was a full house again,” he told the Seven Network after the match.

The second Ashes test will now be played from December 8 at the Gabba in Brisbane. Australia would be keen to carry on the confidence and win the second match as well.
