So, from Ireland to Zimbabwe, from Afghanistan to the Netherlands, if you do well in international cricket, you are bound to get recognition. And this recognition leads to you getting picked for the TATA IPL. Here is a look at all the players from the smaller cricket nations that have impressed in the TATA IPL 2023:
Sikander Raza plays for the Punjab Kings in TATA IPL 2023:
Sikander has played 6 games for the Punjab Kings this season. He might have not made a huge impact but has certainly impressed. He also managed to score a 50. In the 6 games that he has played, he has scored 128 runs at an average of 25.6. But his strike rate is mighty impressive as he is striking at 150.77. The Punjab Kings have found a good middle-order batter for themselves in the form of Raza. He also finished two games for them, by taking them home safely.
Sikander first came on the scene after playing exceptionally well against India in the ODI series. He scored 2 hundreds in that series and since then he hasn?t looked back. He is only the second Zimbabwe cricket after Tatenda Taibu to be a part of the IPL.
Joshua Little Plays for the Gujarat Titans in TATA IPL 2023:
Joshua Little was the name in everybody?s mouth ever since the Irish man took 4 wickets in 4 balls at the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. His being a left-arm pacer gives him an added edge. But most importantly he is a mature cricketer and has figured out how to bowl in the first 6 overs of a T20 game.
Josh is the main bowler for the Gujarat Titans in the powerplay overs. He has played in 7 games and has managed to pick up 5 wickets. His 2/25 was a match-winning spell and in that game, he had come on as an impact player. The Gujarat Titans have made effective use of him. He is not their bowler for the death overs as he struggles in that phase of the game. He bowls at an economy of 8.3 in the powerplay.
Noor Ahmed:
The most impressive of all the players from smaller nations is Noor Ahmed. He also plays for the Gujarat Titans just like Joshua Little and he bowls in tandem with Rashid Khan. At 18 years of age, the young man is doing wonders. He has played 5 games for the Titans and has managed to pick 8 wickets. His best performance was 3/37. What is very impressive is his economy. He gives only 6.72 runs in an over. The spin twins from Afghanistan bowl in the middle overs and choke the opposition.
Noor was picked in the TATA IPL Auction under the suggestion of Rashid Khan. And from then on, the young man hasn?t looked back.
