India vs South Africa 1st Test Prediction: In the last four weeks or so, we have been watching the biggest off-field drama and turmoil in Indian cricket. Jasprit Bumrah twisted his ankle severely during day 3 of SAvsIND 1st test: In an unfortunate incident Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has severely injured his ankle while bowling in the 1st innings against South Africa on day 3. The incident took place in the 11th over of the South African innings when Bumrah was bowling to Rassie van der Dussen.?



In his followthrough, Bumrah twisted his ankle and looked in tremendous pain after that. The physio immediately came to the middle and attended to the injured.?



?Jasprit Bumrah has suffered a right ankle sprain while bowling in the first innings. The medical team is monitoring him at the moment,? said BCCI giving an update on Jasprit?s injury.

The statement further added that Shreyas Iyer has stepped into the field as his substitute.

It is noteworthy that Jasprit Bumrah provided India with the initial breakthrough. He picked up the wicket of the Protea skipper Dean Elgar in the first over itself.&nbsp;



As of now, South Africa is riding on the back of wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma. Both the players have scored 33 and 31 runs respectively.&nbsp;



Mohammad Shami has picked up two wickets of Aiden Markram and Keegan Petersen. While Mohammad Siraj picked up the wicket of Rassie van der Dussen.

ICC penalise India with 1 WTC Point for poor over-rate in Centurion test against South Africa: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Saturday docked one crucial World Test Championship (WTC) point from India for maintaining a slow over-rate in the Centurion test match. Team India fell one over short of their required target due to which a WTC point has been penalised by the ICC.



During the opening test match against South Africa, team India, though, won the match by 113 runs but lost a crucial one World Test Championship 2021-23 point for their slow over-rate offence.



As per the ICC rules, a WTC point will be docked from the total points accumulated by a team, if they fell short of their required target. For each over bowled after the specified time, a point is fined.



Also, the Indian players were penalised with a 20 per cent match fee for their offence. The charges were imposed by match referee Andy Pycroft. On-field umpires Marais Erasmus and Adrian Holdstock have levelled the charges and the players accepted the offence which is why no formal hearing was conducted.

It is noteworthy that team India has remained guilty of the same offence back in August 2021 during the Nottingham Test against England. Virat Kohli and his men were docked two WTC points for the slow over-rate offence.



The current ICC World Test Championship Cycle will run until 2023. The second edition started with the India tour of England 2021 while it will end in 2023.



Australia had to suffer huge losses during the last WTC cycle as they were penalised with four crucial WTC points from their points table. The Aussies fell just short to enter the final due to the points docked by the ICC.

As of now, in the current ICC World Test Championship 2021-23, India sits at fourth position with a 63.09 win percentage and 53 points in seven matches. Australia, Sri Lanka and Pakistan are ahead of India in the points table with a 100 win percentage for the top two and a 75 win percentage for Pakistan.

Team India has more experienced test side than South Africa, says Hashim Amla: Former South African legendary batter Hashim Amla reckons team India has more collective experience than South Africa in the test cricket which created a huge difference and owing to which India convincingly thrashed the hosts in the series opener in Centurion. India won the match by 113 runs and gained a lead of 1-nil in the three-match test series.



"They (India) have been a strong unit over the last two years or so. They have more experience collectively and it always makes a huge difference when you have runs on the board to back you up,? said Hashim Amla on the Cricket South Africa website.



The Indian unit comprises several big test match players, which is certainly not the case with South Africa. In the Protea team, only a few players have considerable test exposure. Barring the likes of skipper Dean Elgar, Quinton de Kock(now retired), Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi, other players haven?t been a consistent feature in the traditional format.



Amla further said that India firmly held the game in the first innings itself with a good score of over 300. The surface in Centurion is vividly known to be drastic and challenging as the game progresses.



"Centurion is notorious for becoming more difficult to bat as the days progress. So once India won the toss, batted and scored in excess of 300 it was game on for the Protea batters to match that score at the very least," Amla said.



"Being 130 runs behind is what really hurt them, and it ended up being the difference."?

"Day one, the pitch looked best for batting and credit to the Indians for playing disciplined cricket,? he said heaping praises on the Indian batsman, openers especially.



The former South African batsman also emphasised, how the hosts pulled up the game on day two and restricted India to around 300, which could have gone to over 400, had India batted well on the second day.



"Not challenging the defence enough. That was day one, but on day two, though, they did extremely well to restrict the Indians to 327. They could have got to 400 plus. The bowlers all had their moments. Lungi (Ngidi), KG (Kagiso Rabada) and the youngster (Marco) Jansen stand out of course.?



Moving ahead he loved watching Temba Bavuma bat, who looked like the lone warrior for SA after Elgar?s wicket. Bavuma scored 52 and 35(unbeaten) in the two respective innings of the Centurion test match against India.



?However, in a relatively low scoring match I enjoyed watching Temba Bavuma. He always looks like he has time and seldom troubled,? Amla added.



India and South Africa will now show up for the 2nd test match of the three-match series. The second encounter is slated to begin on 3rd January in The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg. It will be interesting to see whether South Africa manages to pull things off nicely in their favour or India manages to clinch its maiden test series win in South Africa.

Temba Bavuma led South Africa team registered a historic win over India in the Kolkata Test. South Africa has gained a huge advantage in the World Test Championship i.e. WTC Points Table due to this win. South Africa has jumped two places and reached the top-2 directly. On the other hand, Shubman Gill led Team India has suffered a loss in the WTC Points Table with this defeat.
India has slipped from third to fourth position, while Sri Lanka is now at number three. Let us tell you, South Africa had set a target of 124 runs for India to win, which Team India could not chase and was all out for 93 runs. Shubman Gill did not come to bat due to injury. Before the first Test, South Africa were fourth with 50 percent points. However, their victory over India has now lifted them to 66.67 percent, propelling Temba Bavuma's team to second. India, meanwhile, has only 54.17 percent points. Australia remains in first place with 100 percent points.
<h2>Australia ranked number one</h2>
If we look at the position of other teams in the points table of the fourth edition of the World Test Championship, then the Australian team is at number one with 100 points percentage. Apart from this, Sri Lanka is at number three with 66.67 points percentage, whereas Pakistan's team is at number five with 50 points percentage.
England's team is at number six, whose total points percentage is 43.33. Apart from this, Bangladesh, West Indies and New Zealand are at the last three positions, out of which only the Kiwi team has not played a single match in this WTC cycle so far.

South Africa's historic win over India in the Kolkata Test lifted them to second place in the World Test Championship (WTC) points table with 66.67% points, while India dropped to fourth with 54.17%. Australia remains at the top with a perfect 100%. Sri Lanka moved up to third, and Pakistan, England, Bangladesh, West Indies, and New Zealand occupy the lower spots, with New Zealand yet to play a match in this cycle.
