Rahul Tripathi to lead Maharashtra in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021.



Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021: Young Kolkata Knight Riders batsman, Rahul Tripathi to lead Maharashtra in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021. Maharashtra has shortlisted 20 members <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/ind-vs-aus-indian-skipper-for-the-first-test-jasprit-bumrah-hints-at-shamis-probable-inclusion-into-the-squad-for-the-border-gavaskar-trophy/" title="squad for the" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">squad for the</a> National T20 Championship which will begin next month.



Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) announced the 20-men strong squad through a press release on Wednesday.



Along with flamboyant Rahul Tripathi, the team is a combination of both experience and youth.



Experienced Kedar Jadhav has also been included to the side. Promising top-order batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad is also named in the 20-men strong squad for Maharashtra.



Gaikwad who performed consistently at the end of the IPL will be one of the key members to watch for the franchises who will be scouting the talent.



Left-arm spinner Satyajeet Bachhav is one of the prominent faces among the bowlers and will lead the bowling unit for Maharashtra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.



All the league games of Maharashtra will be held at Vadodra and is placed in the Elite Group C along with Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Baroda, Gujrat, and Chhattisgarh.



The tournament will begin on 10th January and all the teams have been asked to assemble at their respective hubs on or before 02nd January by the Board.

According to the police report, Tripathi was not wearing his mask while roaming around in his car at Khadi Machine Chowk in Kondhwa.



?The cricketer Tripathi was not wearing a face mask and was driving around without any reason during the lockdown. There were some other persons in the car,? said senior inspector Sardar Patil of Kondhwa police station.



Police further said that the cricketer was fined Rupees 500 for violating the protocols amid the ravaging pandemic and was also issued the receipt.

Young players being bought for millions is not unnatural sight in the auctions and we saw a number of similar instances in IPL 2022 <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/ipl-2025-mega-auction-when-and-where-to-watch-the-auction-in-india/" title="Mega Auction" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">Mega Auction</a> as well.&nbsp;



While most spectators were busy waiting for the marquee players and the well established International players, some franchises played it smart and targetted uncapped players who have performed well in the previous editions of the Indian Premier League and in domestic cricket.&nbsp;

5. Shivam Mavi (Kolkata Knight Riders - 7.25 Crores) - Shivam Mavi shot to fame due to his exceptional performance in the 2018 U19 World Cup. In IPL 2021 he played very few matches but he performed extraordinarily in those matches.&nbsp;



Although Shivam Mavi is yet to portray his batting skills in IPL, he is an exceptional fast bowler and can prove his potential in IPL 2022 as a regular player of Kolkata Knight Riders.&nbsp;



As KKR do not have such a strong squad, Shivam Mavi will get more opportunities to prove himself as he will have much more responsibilities on his shoulders.&nbsp;



Shivam Mavi picked up 11 wickets in 9 matches in IPL 2022 and in overall, he has 25 wickets in 26 matches. Royal Challengers Bangalore also seemed interested in buying him but ultimately KKR won the bidding war and bought him for 7.25 Crores)

4. Rahul Tripathi (Sunrisers Hyderabad - 8.50 Crores) - Rahul Tripathi too was a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders squad in IPL 2022. He was was one of their highest run-scorers and if it weren?t for him, KKR could not have qualified to the final of IPL 2021.&nbsp;



Rahul Tripathi scored 397 runs in 17 matches in IPL 2021. He had the highest score of 74* and an overall average of 140.28. Overall, he has scored 1385 runs in 62 matches and is very underrated in the Indian cricket scenario.&nbsp;



After a very rigorous bidding war between many IPL franchises, Sunrisers ended up buying Rahul Tripathi for 8.5 Crores. He is a great top-order addition to the already very strong Sunrisers Hyderabad squad.&nbsp;



Rahul Tripathi is over 30 years old and is very active in the domestic cricket circuit. He plays for Maharashtra currently. Even in the recently played Vijay Hazare Trophy, his performance was commendable. His outstanding 99 against Kerala and 56 against Madhya Pradesh show how responsible he is as a batsman. His signing can be game-changing for Sunrisers Hyderabad this season.&nbsp;



It will be interesting to see whether SRH let him open in IPL 2022. We know that he can play as an opener as, during his days at Pune Super Giants, he used to open for them.&nbsp;

3. Rahul Tewatia (Gujarat Titans - 9 Crores) - Rahul Tewatia shot to fame in the last two seasons of the Indian Premier League while playing for Rajasthan Royals. Although he made his IPL debut in IPL 2014, it was not until 2020 that he made his mark.&nbsp;



In IPL 2020, Tewatia showed that he could be a great finisher as well. On 27th September 2020, Rajasthan Royals took on Punjab Kings in perhaps the best match of the season. Batting first, Punjab Kings scored 223 runs and everyone thought that they will easily win the match. However, RR proved them wrong. They chased down the total with 3 balls left and shocked everyone.&nbsp;



Rahul Tewatia has a big role to play in that victory. He scored 53 runs in 31 balls to win the match for Rajasthan.&nbsp;



In the span of the next two years, Rahul Tewatia showed that he excels in spin bowling as well. Sadly, his performance dropped down a lot in IPL 2021 and thus RR decided not to retain him.&nbsp;



However, all the other teams were very eager to sign him in IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Rahul Tewatia ended up going to Gujarat Kings for a whopping 9 Crores price tag.&nbsp;

2. Shahrukh Khan (Punjab Kings - 9 Crores) - Shahrukh Khan is perhaps the best uncapped Indian finisher right now. His heroics in the Vijay Hazare Trophy won the match for Tamil Nadu.&nbsp;



In the thrilling final between Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh, Shahrukh Khan scored 42 runs in just 21 deliveries to pull Tamil Nadu out of a tricky situation. Even then, they needed 5 runs to win off the last delivery and he did the unthinkable by hitting a massive six off the last delivery.&nbsp;



He shot to fame after that knock and was praised by many ex-cricketers including MS Dhoni.



Shahrukh Khan played for PBKS last season and had some great knocks last season as well. However, he did not want to be retained for just 4 crores (uncapped player) and thus he decided to head on to the auction.&nbsp;



He was then rebought by Punjab Kings by a much higher price tag of 9 Crores.&nbsp;

1. Avesh Khan (Lucknow Super Giants - 10 Crores) - Avesh Khan was undoubtedly one of the best bowlers in IPL 2021. He was the second-highest wicket-taker after Harshal Patel with 24 wickets in 16 matches. It was the 26-year old?s breakthrough season.&nbsp;



Avesh Khan has had a great domestic season as well. Playing for Madhya Pradesh, he was phenomenal in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. His Spells against Bihar (3/6) and Railways (3/23) showed what a fantastic form he is currently in.&nbsp;



The form Avesh Khan is, he will soon make it to the Indian Senior team as well.&nbsp;



There was a huge bidding war between all the franchises for Avesh Khan but Lucknow Super Giants seemed to be the most interested right from the beginning. LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir has always spoken very highly about Gautam Gambhir and he thus wanted him at Lucknow at any cost. They ended up buying him for a record-breaking 10 Crores.&nbsp;



It will now be interesting to see whether he can justify his price tag in IPL 2022 with his performance.?

SRH?s Washington Sundar injured, likely to miss two upcoming matches in IPL 2022: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) all-rounder Washington Sundar has sustained a split webbing in his bowling hand and is highly likely to miss at least two upcoming IPL 2022 matches of his side. Washington Sundar?s highly impressive bowling efforts followed by the sensational batting of skipper <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/ind-vs-nz-kane-williamson-was-ruled-out-of-the-third-test-while-the-uncapped-pacer-has-been-drafted-into-indias-squad-for-the-third-wankhede-test/" title="Kane Williamson" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">Kane Williamson</a> took SRH over the rope against unbeaten Gujarat Titans (GT) on Monday in the DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai.



Sundar, before going off the field, bowled three tidy overs to build pressure on the opposition. His three wicketless overs, of which two were delivered in the powerplay, went for just 14 runs.



Tom Moody confirmed that Sundar would probably take a week to recover from his split webbing.



?Washington has torn the webbing in his right hand, between his thumb and first finger. We must monitor that over the next two-three days. Hopefully, it isn?t a significant blow. I?d imagine it?d take probably a week or so to settle down,? SRH coach Moody said after the win.



Washington Sundar has been phenomenal for SRH in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. The tweaker has picked up four wickets in four outings in the Tata IPL 2022 at an impressive economy of 7.85.&nbsp;



Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in its next encounter will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Brabourne Stadium followed by a contest against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on 15th April.

Meanwhile, middle-order batter Rahul Tripathi, who had to walk off the field, is also not on serious lines, said SRH head coach. Tripathi was retired hurt in the match against Gujarat Titans (GT) as he fell on the ground after hitting a maximum.



?He?s fine, he?s just getting cramped,? Moody said.

But staying under-rated and to keep doing your job is also an art. So, who are the criminally under-rated performers in this IPL 2022 season? Here is a look:&nbsp;



<h2>1) Deepak Hooda:&nbsp;</h2>

Tewatia proved his value of over 8 Crore Indian Rupees, this season. The leg-spin bowling all-rounder was considered to be a bowling all-rounder but with this season almost coming to an end, we can say that Tewatia is a bankable batsman. The Gujarat Titans, a team that was considered to be the weakest team at the beginning of the IPL 2022 season has relied on Tewatia and he has won them 2 to 3 games. Abhishek has taken the responsibility of giving SRH a good start. He has scored a cumulative 324 runs in 9 games. &nbsp;



<h2>4) T Natarajan:&nbsp;</h2>

B</a>ut that doesn?t take any credit away from the amazing performances that he has done so far. Natarajan is one of the left-arm pacers who has been super impressive in the death overs. The thing that works well for Nattu is that he has a very precise yorker. His yorkers are laser-guided. Also, he has developed good pace-variation. His slower ball has become increasingly difficult to pick. Natarajan is ranked 3rd in the list of Purple Cap holders and he is the reason behind SRH?s success. &nbsp;



**Rahul Tripathi is not considered as there are talks around him getting an Indian National Team call-up.**



<h2>5) Arshdeep Singh: &nbsp;</h2>



This ?Smashing Sardar? has been mighty impressive in the death overs for the Punjab Kings. His numbers might not show tremendous growth in the wickets column but if a bowler manages to keep the batsman silent in the death overs his job is more than done. Arshdeep belongs to the elite batch of Shubman Gill and Prithvi Shaw. He wasn?t the first-choice pacer but certainly is the closest to getting an India call-up from that batch of bowlers. His left-arm angle makes life hell for the batsmen. Arsh has had an economy of 6 in the death overs. Now those numbers are jaw-dropping. &nbsp;

The BCCI and all the ground management deserve a lot of credit to pull this off in such circumstances. The players have been exceptional throughout. This season, Jos Butler gave us a masterclass in the true sense. We also saw the resurgence of Dinesh Karthik. The consistency of Rahul Tripathi was also on display. Rahul Tripathi has been banging on the door of the national team for a very long time. He has been scoring runs season after season. The case with him is that he is never in the limelight. Season after season, my man from Delhi has walked in and has performed. He has scored 450+ runs for the 4th season in a row. It is very unfortunate that ?Mr. ICC Shikhar Dhawan is not a part of the Indian National Team in the T20 format. He doesn?t have age by his side but he is supremely fit. And the demands of the shorter format are fulfilled by Shikhar. He is a gun fielder. He carried the Punjab Kings this season. Dhawan was the senior player and stepped up in that fashion.&nbsp;



<h2>8) N Tilak Varma Played for MI in TATA IPL 2022: &nbsp;</h2>

With Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan not being in the best of forms, the Mumbai Indians needed some batter who could take the team through. N Tilak Varma did exactly that. He put his hand up in the most important situations. He was the one who played the crucial knocks alongside Suryakumar Yadav. There was a lot of hype around his name at the start of the season and he stood up to the same. He was playing international grade cricket. He looked comfortable with the pace and the bounce too. His innings against the Rajasthan Royals will always be one for the ages. &nbsp;

If leading from the front can be described on the field it was done by Hardik Pandya. Sanjay Manjrekar in an interview said that Gujarat Titans may need a change of captaincy mid-season. Hardik Pandya and his performance have legitimately shut the mouth of such critics. Hardik walked in to bat at number 4 and number 3 for the Gujarat Titans. He was the player who took the game out of critical situations. The Titans always set a good platform for their finishers and Hardik played a big part in this. These are good signs for the Indian national team as well. &nbsp;



<h2>6) Shubman Gill:&nbsp;</h2>



Shubman Gill, the boy from Fazilka played a few innings with a slow strike rate but held one side. He was the anchor for the Gujarat Titans. His innings against the LSG team in the second game were heavily criticized but when LSG got bundled out for 90 odd runs in that match, the difficulty of the pitch got exposed. He twice scored his career-best this season. The ?Gabba Gill? that we saw was on display in this IPL. He dealt well with the short ball and with the express pace as well. &nbsp;

He was picked for the Sunrisers Hyderabad at 6.2 Crores. They invested in him and he delivered. He scored 426 runs at a strike rate of 156+. This speaks volumes of the explosive attitude he has. He belongs to Shubman Gill?s batch. Abhishek?s performance is highly rated as his partner Kane Williamson was having a difficult time. So, with little to no support at the other end, he excelled. <h2>3) David Miller:&nbsp;</h2>

The ?Killer Miller? from 2013 showed up this season. The Gujarat Titans backed this finisher and he delivered with grace. He was hitting sixes over mid-wicket for fun. He had a ?Yuvrajesque? touch to his batting. His performance in ?Qualifier 1? and against the Chennai Super Kings will never be forgotten. The Titans relied on Miller and Tewatia to do the finishing for them and both of them did it very well. His 3 sixes against Prasidh Krishna, one of the top bowlers of the season, show that he was high on confidence. He also effectively countered spin.&nbsp;

Rahul and his lofted cover drive were a treat to watch. So, was his ?Noise-Off? celebration. He led from the front and had the Quinton De Kock by his side. Both these batters stepped up after a few failures in the initial few games. &nbsp;

India?s Squad for Ireland announced, Schedule, Hardik named captain: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a 17-men strong Indian <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/pakistans-predicted-squad-for-the-upcoming-tour-of-australia-babar-in-rizwan-as-captain/" title="squad for the upcoming" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">squad for the upcoming</a> tour of Ireland, which begins on June 26. The Indian side is fixed to tour Ireland for two matches T20I series after the conclusion of the ongoing home five matches T20I series against the Proteas.



On expected lines, all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who impressed everyone with his captaincy in the IPL, has been handed leadership of the national side in the absence of regular players such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah.



While Pandya has been given the leadership role, pace spearhead Bhuvneshwar Kumar is named as his deputy for the short tour.



Rahul Tripathi has finally received his maiden call-up <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/ind-vs-aus-injury-scare-for-team-india-shubman-gill-a-doubt-for-the-1st-test-due-to-a-finger-injury/" title="for team India" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">for team India</a>. Tripathi was constantly knocking on the selector?s doors with his consistent performance in the domestic circuit and in the IPL. In the recently held IPL season, he scored 413 runs in 14 matches at an average of 37.54, striking at 158.23.



"It is a very big opportunity, a dream come true [moment] and [I] appreciate [it]," Tripathi told PTI. "I am very happy that the selectors and everybody believed in me and whatever hard-work I have put in, I have got the rewards. And hopefully, if I get an opportunity to play, I will try and give my best.

Meanwhile, two other middle-order batters have been recalled for the Ireland tour. The likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson are also named in the squad. The former had suffered an injury owing to which he had to miss the ending part of the Tata IPL 2022 for Mumbai Indians.



The BCCI has slotted senior glovesman Dinesh Karthik as the first-choice wicketkeeper for the tour in Rishabh Pant?s absence, though, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson are two other options available for the men in blue.

<h2>1) N Tilak Varma will play for the Mumbai Indians in TATA IPL 2023:?</h2>



N Tilak Varma played for the Mumbai Indians in TATA IPL 2022. He was the only batter who was very impressive in the initial stage of the tournament for the men in blue. Tilak was chosen as a left-handed all-rounder but they used him exclusively as a batter. Tilak was given the best of opportunities. He floated up the order at times to deal with the pressure situations. ?

Rahul Tripathi finally got his dues cleared from the BCCI when the selection panel finally invited him for the national tour against Ireland. Rahul is a true star batter. He is a complete team man. Harbhajan Singh, the legendary Indian spinner, regards Rahul as one of the most hard-working and one of the purest souls that he has ever come across. &nbsp;



Tripathi played a crucial part in carrying the KKR team to the final in IPL 2021. He then emulated the performances in TATA IPL 2022 to help SRH remain in contention. He hasn?t had a very big breakthrough season and IPL 2023 can be that. Tripathi is a senior player for the Maharasthra domestic team. The MCA ground has a lot to offer for the spinners and this is exactly why Rahul?s game against spin is very well-developed. ?



He deals well with the short balls. He doesn?t rely on power but timing is his key. He averaged 37.55 at a strike rate of 158.88.&nbsp;



<h2>3) Prasidh Krishna:&nbsp;</h2>



Prasidh Krishna has become an integral part of the Indian team. He is one of the top picks when it comes to the ODI format but he has become a mainstay with the team. His opportunity to make a debut in red-ball cricket or T20I cricket is very nearby. He bowls quick, in fact super quick.?



Prasidh clocks 145+kmph consistently. Krishna has made Virat Kohli, one of the greatest batters of all time, his bunny. Every time in a game of RR against Royal Challengers Bangalore, whenever Kohli was to be troubled, Sanju Samson threw the ball to Krishna. He nips the ball away from the right-hander and into the left-hander. ?



Keeping fitness is the key as Rajasthan Royals can easily replace Prasidh with Navdeep. Both the bowlers are almost the same but Prasidh is more of the ?hit-the-deck" kind. Sanju Samson used Prasidh very well. When David Miller hit him for 3 sixes, his performance in the next game was elite. This incident speaks a lot about the character of Skiddy. He has a lot to offer in TATA IPL 2023 ?



<h2>4) Jitesh Sharma:?</h2>

Jitesh Sharma is a senior domestic player. Jitesh has been around the cricketing circuit since 2015. He was initially associated with the Mumbai Indians but this season he played for the Punjab Kings. &nbsp;



The Punjab Kings did not give him an ideal position but due to the collapses in the batting, Jitesh did get a decent number of opportunities to show what he got. Jitesh can be effectively used as a number 3 or number4 batter by any other team. The ideal place for him could be with the Lucknow Super Giants or with the Gujarat Titans, the teams that have an evident loophole in the top order. ?



Jitesh has a lot to offer with the bat and this is exactly what he showed this season. He scored 234 runs at a strike rate of 168.9. It will be great to see what exactly he has in store for us in the forthcoming season in TATA IPL 2023. ?



<h2>5) Dewald Brevis will play for the Mumbai Indians in TATA IPL 2023:?</h2>

He gave us a glimpse of his immense potential in the game against the Punjab Kings where he smacked, Rahul Chahar for 29 runs in one over. He hit him for 4 consecutive sixes. ?



Dewald batted at numbers 3 and 4 for the Mumbai Indians in the absence of Suryakumar Yadav and decently filled that void. Brevis will be an asset for the Mumbai Indians in the long run. He is young and has a lot of game time left. If he can have his head on his shoulder and can stay fit, he can go a very long way. ?
