AFG vs PAK, 2nd ODI: The second match of the ongoing three-match ODI series between Afghanistan and Pakistan was played at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Sri Lanka at the same venue today. The first match of both was also played on this ground where Pakistan stunned everyone by all-out Afghanistan for just 59 runs. Imam-ul-Haq and captain Babar Azam shared a 108-run partnership for the second wicket after his dismissal. Babar Azam, the captain, scored a half-century in 66 balls while Imam-ul-Haq scored 91 runs in 105 balls. After these two were dismissed, Pakistan's middle order crumbled, and the Afghanistan team was gradually mounting a comeback in the game. Shadab Khan, however, went on to play a 48 run innings in 35 balls with the help of three fours and a six, which helped Pakistan remain in the match.

Farooqi Mankad Shadab Khan: It felt like 'd?j??Vu as Naseem Shah's excellent batting skills snatched flesh from Lion's jaw. Pakistan won the last-over thriller by 1 wicket outclassing Afghanistan. Last Over also managed to grab a controversial moment where Farooqi mankad Shadab Khan in the final over of AFG vs PAK 2nd ODI.



Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bat first. Both Afghan openers held intact and combined together for an over 200 runs opening stand. Wicketkeeper-batsman Gurbaz was solid on the pitch and struck 151 runs with a strike rate of 100. Riding on his ton and a half runs and Ibrahim Zadran's 80, Afghanistan finally managed to put 300 runs on board.



In the chase, Pakistan also got off to a good start with a 50-run opening stand and then a 120-run second-wicket partnership. Pakistan were 176 for 2 wickets down and soon 211 for 6 wickets down. Then came the Player of the Match Shadab Khan. His quick 48 off 35 helped Pakistan needing 11 runs off the last over.



Fazalhaq Farooqi had the ball in his hands in the last over with Naseem Shah on the strike and Shadab Khan on the non-striker's end. Farooqi marked his run-up and ran to the bowling crease and he found Shadab short of his ground. With game awareness at the moment, he ran him out at the non-striker's end.

As he started to run up, Farooqi quickly noticed that the Pakistani batsman had already left the crease before he had even delivered the ball, and in an instant of pure awareness, he stopped mid-action to remove the bail.



At a vital point in the game, the Afghan pacer's foresight allowed his side to dismiss the threatening batter. Shadab, on the other hand, walked back to the pavilion shaking his head incredulously, appearing unsatisfied with his dismissal.



Despite Shadab's dismissal, the game had a thrilling finish as Pakistan managed to win by only one wicket against Afghanistan in the last over. Naseem Shah managed to sneak a boundary to the third-man barrier, ensuring Pakistan won the three-game series 2-0. Despite the Afghan bowlers fighting hard, with Farooqi leading the attack and getting three wickets, the Afghan squad failed to win an ODI against Pakistan.



Now, Pakistan and Afghanistan will battle in the third and last ODI of this bilateral series on 26th August. Afghanistan will once again fight hard to snatch the first win against Pakistan whereas Pakistan will look for a clear sweep and perfect series result just before heading into Asia Cup 2023.

Naseem Shah looked sharp with his executions during the first spell and accounted for the first breakthrough against Bangladesh. He got rid of all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz for a duck with a pretty soft dismissal. 



The incident took place in the second delivery of the sixth over being bowled by Shaheen Shah Afridi. The delivery was directed onto the pads, which went to fine leg where Naseem Shah was stationed. Shah took a slide to his left to stop the ball from touching the boundary rope, however, he was unsuccessful. 



As the first impression of the slide, Naseem looked fine, but unfortunately, he didn't move for a while and was soon attended by the physio. The pacer was in pain and was taken off the field to receive careful medical attention for his injured shoulder.



The left-arm seamer bowled four overs in his first spell and got off the field eventually following that threatening slide. But fortunately, he returned in the seventeenth over and cracked 140 kmph deliveries straight away.

Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan in a last-ball thriller by two wickets to get to their 11th Asia Cup final amid the absence of hurt pacers Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf. Haris Rauf also went through back strain in the same match but Babar and the PCB are pretty confident about his recovery till the upcoming main event.

Pakistan Cricket Board first revealed that the reports of the initial scans were not scary and he would recover soon. But the recent reports say that it is worse than what was suspected before.



According to a report published by ESPNcricinfo, the PCB is reportedly seeking a second opinion, although scans from tests in Dubai seem to indicate the injury may prevent him from playing for the whole of the year. 



As per ESPN, he might miss the series against Australia which is scheduled for the end of 2023. He could also miss the next Pakistan Super League in 2024.

PCB released a statement on his recovery. The statement reads, "The Pakistan Cricket Board's medical team has been monitoring the status of Naseem Shah?s shoulder injury sustained during the Asia Cup 2023."



"Medical consultations with the experts are underway to provide the best possible care to Naseem. The PCB medical panel will decide on the fast bowler's return to cricket based on further assessments."

Naseem has transformed over the past year from a red-ball specialist to a versatile all-format bowler for Pakistan, and with his current form, he is the finest of the world-famous trio, which also includes Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf.

Rishabh Pant wasn't able to find the sweet connection with the ball and still managed to find boundaries and runs, Axar, on the other hand, kept scoring with good intelligence. Naseem Shah knocked off Axar Patel in the 8th over and by the 12th over, India were 88 for just 3 down. It was all and all a powerful situation in that pitch but Pakistan turned the table after that.



India kept losing wickets one after the other and Pakistan were all over the Indian team. They got the momentum on their side and India were all-out for 119. India lost 7 wickets for just 30 runs in the last 9 overs. This looked to be an easy target for Pakistan with a long and attacking batting line-up.



Babar and Rizwan opened up for Pakistan. Siraj and Arshdeep were disciplined with the new ball and Bumrah created an opportunity but was dropped by Shivan Dube. But again in the same over, he made Babar knick a good length ball to slip and Surya grabbed an amazing low catch. 



Though Pakistani batters were batting and getting some runs, they lacked in the intent. Fakhar showed a bit of courage but Hardik got him going back to the dugout. Pakistan were at 80 runs after 14 overs and needed 39 runs in 36 balls with 7 wickets in hand and Mohammad Rizwan playing at 31 on 43 balls but a peach from Bumrah castled through Rizwan.

Imad Wasim then tried to power his innings but he ran out of Partners from the other end. Pakistan scored 22 runs in 30 balls and needed 18 runs off the last over. Naseem Shah threw his bat on the ball but couldn't do much and India won the contest by 6 runs.

 Though Babar?s drop in form has been documented well, the dip in form for Shaheen has also been quite eminent, since he has averaged over 45 in red-ball cricket since his return to test cricket after his injury state. Naseem was the other pacer who followed with a bad form as well, while Naseem remained Pakistan?s specialist red-ball bowler for years without having played white-ball cricket. After Naseem too returned from his injury this April, he could not assess his pace and accuracy following his surgery.

Pakistan: After suffering an embarrassing group-stage exit from this year's T20 International World Cup, Pakistan will be looking to make a strong comeback when they travel to Australia to take part in six white-ball contests.

According to some emerging news-reports, veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan is likely to take over the limited-overs leadership duties of Pakistan from Babar Azam. The 32-year-old has performed well for the Shaheens on a regular basis and he can help the team turn around their fortunes with his game awareness and tactical-skills.



As per the report of Cricket Pakistan, the experienced duo of Shadab Khan and Fakhar Zaman might get dropped from the Shaheens? squad for the T20i and ODI series versus Australia. Pakistan's Cricket governing body, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is anticipated to announce the squad of the Men's National Team for the highly-anticipates Tri-Series versus South Africa and New Zealand and the 2025 Champions Trophy soon. Indian Seamer Umran Malik has been away from Indian Cricket since a really long time and this is the same Umran Malik who was the centre of attention in the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, he lost all of his rhythm in the next two seasons of the cash-rich T20 league. In IPL 2023, he dismissed just five batters in eight matches while in the previous season of the tournament, he got the chance to play in just a single game and he went wicketless in that match. 
The Jammu &amp; Kashmir seamer became famous because of his ability to bowl at speeds of 150+ but in the last two IPL seasons, his speed wasn't discussed much. He knows how to bowl fast, but he lacks the ability to swing the ball. 
In such a situation, he had to bowl mostly in the overs after the end of the Powerplay, where he was thrashed a lot by the opposition batters. His line &amp; length were also not correct and the batters were able to go after him easily. In IPL 2023, the 25-year-old conceded runs at an economy rate of 10.85 and those numbers became even more worse in the following season, as he had an economy rate of 15 to his name.

The 25-year-old Umran Malik, who hails from Gujjar Nagar in Jammu, has participated in 10 One-Day International matches and eight T20 International games for Team India. He has dismissed 13 players in ODIs and 11 batters in T20 Internationals. 
He played his last match for the Men in Blue versus the West Indies in July of 2023. Talking about his IPL career, he has 29 scalps to his name in 26 matches. The 25-year-old is likely to be fit for the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he will be playing for defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The Kolkata based team secured his services in the Mega-Auction for a price tag of 75 lakh Indian Rupees.

Coming to the first game, India started the five-match T20I series against England on a dominating note. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side defeated the opposition by seven wickets at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday. 
Asked to bat, England had a poor start with the bat as they lost both the openers, thanks to the brilliance of Arshdeep Singh. Captain Jos Buttler (68) kept his team in the hunt and was the lone warrior for his team 
India kept taking wickets at regular intervals, with Varun Chakravarthy being the the pick of the bowlers with his figure of three for 23. His sensational spell helped India bundle out England for 132. 
Chasing the target, Sanju Samson (26) and Abhishek Sharma (79) took India off to a flying start, adding 41 runs for the opening partnership. While Samson and Suryakumar Yadav fell early, Sharma slammed a blistering half-century and took his team to the seven-wicket win.
