The first test of ENG vs WI 2024 started with the Home team winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Many called it an audition for Gus Atkinson to fill the huge spot of James Anderson and guess what, he not only passed it but overtook the legacy. He scalped 7 wickets in the first innings and became the 53rd English to take a fifer on the test debut.

England summed up West Indies for just 121 runs and in return posted 371 runs in their first innings. The carnage from Gus Atkinson didn't stop in the first innings, he came in the second innings as well and again took a five-wicket haul. He took 12 wickets in the match which is the joint-third highest in the history of test cricket for a debutant.

ICC WTC Points Table 2023-25: The "Bazball" is back on track with the West Indies series of England. Two matches in the series played so far and both won with utter domination in all aspects for England. Stokes also added valuable 69 runs to the team's total and England ended up putting 416 runs on the board.



West Indies also got some good knocks from their batter. The West Indies had a promising start in the bowling, but Duckett and Pope once again came to England's rescue. Then, Joe Root and Harry Brook took center stage, both smashing spectacular centuries. Their formidable 189-run partnership put England in a commanding position for the final innings. With a massive total of 425 runs in the second innings, England set a daunting target that was nearly impossible to chase in the fourth innings at Nottingham.



England had meticulously crafted strategies for each West Indies batter, and fortune was firmly on the side of the home team. West Indies were at 66 for 1, but within just four overs, they crumbled to 74 for 5. It was the turning point for England, who swiftly wrapped up the match by bowling out the West Indies for just 143, clinching a resounding victory by 241 runs!

England National Cricket Team has announced the squad for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against the West Indies National Cricket Team. Harry Brook, who was recently announced as the skipper, will be leading the team in both series. 
The England vs West Indies will begin with the three-match ODI series. The first game will be played on 29th May at Edgbaston, followed by the second match to be played at Sophie Gardens on 1st June. The third and final game will be played at the Oval on 3rd June. 
After that, the T20I series is all set to be played from 6th June at Riverside Ground. The second match will be played at County Ground, Bristol, on 8th June, followed by the last match, slated to take place on 10th June at Rose Bowl. 
This will be the first assignment for Harry Brook after being appointed as the full-time skipper of England. The young batter would want to start the stint on high and win both the series and mark the new chapter in English Cricket. 
Liam Dawson has been named in the T20I team for the first time since 2022. All-rounder Will Jacks will also be making his comeback for England. He has been named in both the squads after his impressive performances in the IPL 2025 for Mumbai Indians. 
Phil Salt has been dropped from the ODI squad but has retained his place in T20I. Also, Luke Wood has been named in the team for the shortest format of the game. Liam Livingstone also has been dropped from the side.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the playing 11 for the first ODI against the West Indies. The match between the two teams is all set to take place at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Thursday, 29th May. 
England will be captained by Harry Brook as the series against West Indies will mark his first assignment as a full-time captain of the team. The Three Lions will see a new opening combination from the last time they played an ODI. 
Ben Duckett will be opening the innings with Jamie Smith. This will be the first time that Smith will be opening in his career. While number three spot will be taken by Joe Root, who has been in a great run of form. Skipper Harry Brook will be taking the number four spot. 
Former skipper Jos Buttler will be the keeper-batter in the team and would be keen to make a solid Impact. Jacob Bethell will be following him at six, and the batter will be holding the key for the team in all three ODIs against the West Indies National Cricket Team. 
Will Jacks also be featuring in the first ODI against West Indies. The all-rounder will make a comeback to the team after a while, and he will be keen to make an impact and seal his place in the team. 
The bowling department of England will comprise Jamie Overton, Saqib Mahmood and Brydon Carse, who will be the fast bowlers. Adil Rashid will be there as a specialist spinner.

The England National Cricket Team has suffered a massive blow ahead of the second ODI against the West Indies National Cricket Team. Star all-rounder Jamie Overton has been ruled out of the entire series, as well as the T20I series after that. 
Jamie Overton suffered an injury during the first ODI against the West Indies at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The all-rounder broke his little finger and looked in immense pain. He underwent scans which didn't come out good as he was deemed unfit to take part in the series ahead. 
Jamie Overton will now be undergoing rehabilitation and will be under the supervision of the England medical team. The ECB released the official statement on the same, confirming that they won't be adding any replacements.

“England and Surrey all-rounder Jamie Overton has been ruled out of the remaining Metro Bank One-Day Internationals and the Vitality IT20s against the West Indies due to a broken right little finger. 
Overton sustained the injury during England’s first Metro Bank ODI victory at Edgbaston on Thursday. He will now undergo a period of rehabilitation under the supervision of the England medical team. No replacement will be added to the ODI squad.” 
Jamie Overton was the pick of the bowlers for England in the first ODI against the West Indies. He picked up three wickets and helped his team win the game. The all-rounder returned with the figures of 3/22 in the 5.2 overs that he bowled. 
Coming to the ODI series, England is ahead by a margin of 1-0. Under the leadership of Harry Brook, they won the game by a massive margin of 238 runs. They would be keen to seal the series in the second game itself. The game will be played on Sunday (1st June).
