Sunil Narine has been breathing fire with the bat and ball in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter has been one of the main reasons why the franchise is at the top of the table. 

Sunil Narine, who has been allowed to open the innings, has made sure that he oozes his class with the bat. The opening batter has come out all guns blazing in the league and has taken his team off the brutal start in almost every game. 

Sunil Narine has destroyed the bowling lineups of many teams in the IPL. His best came in the game against Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday (16th April). The Caribbean batter produced a gigantic effort with the bat and took his team off the flying start. 

Sunil Narine brought up his first century in the league and played a sensational innings, his best in IPL. He ended with an innings of 109 runs off 56 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 194 and also hit 13 fours and 6 sixes in his knock.

On the bowling front, Sunil Narine has been on top level. The mystery spinner has been economical and is the main reason behind Kolkata Knight Riders’ success in the middle order with the ball. He has chipping with wickets at regular intervals as well. 

White Sunil Narine being on top of his game with the bat and ball, there has been a lot of speculation about him making a comeback to international cricket. With T20 World Cup 2024 around the corner, the chances are high. 

But Sunil Narine recently mentioned that he won’t be playing in the league. While interacting with commentator Samuel Badree, the Kolkata Knight Riders batter said that he would be watching the tournament on TV from his home.

West Indies captain Rovman Powell made a huge statement on Sunil Narine’s comeback to international cricket. He stated that he has been telling the all-rounder but he is not listening to anyone. He stated: 

 “I’ve been whispering in Sunil Narine’s ears for the last 12 months about the T20 World Cup selection, but he’s blocked out everyone.”

With T20 World Cup 2024 set to be played in the Carribean, it remains to be seen what will be the future of Sunil Narine in international cricket.
