Sri Lanka vs England: All-rounder Moeen Ali has been tested positive for Covid-19 after reaching Sri Lanka. England and Sri Lanka are scheduled to play two games test series.
Moeen Ali will self isolate himself for 10 days and so will Chris Woakes who was in close contact with the all-rounder.
England’s squad was tested in the Hambantota airport after landing. Ali is likely to miss the first test game as Sri Lanka covid-19 protocols require him to self isolate for at least 10 days.
“Moeen Ali is tested positive and will self isolate himself for 10 days. Chris Woakes has been deemed as a possible close contact, and he will observe a period of self-isolation and further testing,” ECB said in the statement.
“England will undergo an RT-PCR test for the second time on Tuesday morning to kill all the fear. At this stage, the team will train for the first time on Wednesday.”
The two-match Test series against Sri Lanka will be held at Galle, starting January 14th.
