The franchise was centred with several questions post-David Warner’s emotional post to part ways with the team. The franchise wanted to retain Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan during the player retention, however, a strong bargain between the cricketer and franchise went in vain. The reports indicated that Khan wanted to be the first choice retention of SRH, however, the franchise wanted Kane Williamson to be their top player for IPL 2022. The negotiation didn’t go well with both parties and Khan was eventually released to the auction.
