SL vs AFG 2023: Rashid Khan ruled out of two ODI matches against Sri Lanka due to injury

SL vs AFG 2023, Rashid Khan ruled out of two ODI matches against Sri Lanka: Afghanistan Cricket Board confirmed that Rashid Khan would miss the Starting two ODIs against Sri Lanka but will play the last and third ODI.

Both Teams have already announced their Squad for the Three Matches ODI series between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, which starts on June 2nd and ends on June 7th at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Hambantota, Sri Lanka.

Afghanistan already qualified for the ICC ODI World Cup as they finished in the 7th spot in the Super League points table, whereas Sri Lanka failed to get direct qualification for the World Cup as they finished in the 10th spot in the super league points table.

Rashid Khan will miss the first two ODI matches against Sri Lanka:

The Afghanistan’s star player, Rashid Khan, will not be part of the Afghanistan’s Playing 11 in the starting two matches of the ODI series against Sri Lanka due to a lower back injury. He has played two-month long Franchise Cricket in India.

Rashid Khan has performed exceptionally well in the Indian Premier League(IPL) 2023, as he took 27 wickets in 17 matches and was the tournament’s second-highest wicket-taker. He has contributed a lot to his team, Gujarat Titan and took them into the IPL 2023 Finals, but unfortunately, they lost the finals against Chennai Super Kings.

Sri Lanka to play ICC world Cup 2023 Qualifier:

Recently, The Sri Lankan board announced the Squad for the ODI series against Afghanistan, and Dismuth Karunaratne will lead the team, whereas Dusmantha Chameera and Sadeera Samarwickrama has returned to the Sri Lanka ODI squad.

Sri Lanka could not secure their spot in the World Cup through the super league. Now they will play ICC World Cup 2023 Qualifier against teams West Indies, Zimbabwe, Ireland, and the Netherlands, this tournament will start on June 18th in Zimbabwe.
