Saim Ayub joins Virat Kohli in the elite list after his magical ton in 3rd SA vs PAK ODI

Saim Ayub was one of the major reasons behind Pakistan winning the series against South Africa 3-0. The opening batter came up with the magical effort with bat in the entire series and helped his team win all three games of the series.

Saim Ayub started the series on a dominating note as he slammed a brutal century, and if this was not enough, he came up with another magnificent ton in the third match. The opening batter looked a class apart against the world-class South African bowling lineup.

Saim Ayub played a vital innings off 101 runs off 94 balls, packed with 13 fours and two sixes. His innings with the bat powered South Africa to the massive total of 308 runs on the board in the 47 runs and then ultimately win the game by the margin of 36 runs.

With this Saim Ayub became the 5th batter in the history of the ODI cricket to hit multiple tons in a series in South Africa. He joined Warner, Fakhar Zaman and Joe Root, who have two tons in South Africa. Kevin Pietersen and Virat Kohli have three tons in seven and six fixtures, respectively.

Saim Ayub, for his heroics with the bat, was awarded the Player of the Match award as well Player of the Series award. While talking about his performance, he claimed that the award was for the team. He added that seniors in the team help him a lot and he tries to learn. He added:

“Very special because we won. This award is for the team. The entire team chipped in. As a young player, I look to learn from every game. I look to learn from every mistake. The seniors help me learn.”

Pakistan started the series with a three-wicket win in the first game. After that, they followed it up with an 81-run victory. In the end, they completed a 36-run win (via DLS method) to whitewash the opposition.
