The T20I series between Australia and South Africa will be played from Wednesday (30th August). With just a couple of days remaining for the start of the series, the visitors have suffered a massive blow as Glenn Maxwell has been ruled out.

Glenn Maxwell suffered a minor ankle injury and therefore has been deemed unfit to play in the series. This comes as a big blow as he could’ve been vital for the team in the three games as they have named a young team. His experience could’ve helped young guns in the team.

The injury is suspected to be minor and Maxwell is likely to be fit ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023. Australia has also named a replacement in his place. Wicketkeeper batter Matthew Wade will be joining the team and it’ll be a comeback series for him after being dropped from the team.

Glenn Maxwell missing out from the series is not the only concern for the team as Steve Smith, Micthell Starc and captain Pat Cummins have also been ruled out of the whole tour due to injuries. This will be a huge headache for Australia, especially with ICC World Cup 2023 set to begin from 5th October.
