Royal Challengers Bangalore
Reece Topley | BCCI/IPL

The list of injuries in TATA IPL 2023 just keeps getting longer. Royal Challengers Bangalore, the team that has suffered the most due to these, has now got its replacements in place. Reece Topley who was ruled out during the 1st game of RCB in TATA IPL 2023 has now been replaced by a South African pacer. On the other hand, Rajat Patidar, the domestic Indian batter who is out of the TATA IPL 2023 due to an Achilles Heel injury, has been replaced by another bowler. It doesn’t often happen that a batter is replaced by another bowler but in this case, it is true. Here is a look at which players have been roped in:

Wayne Parnell to Replace Reece Topley for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in TATA IPL 2023:

Reece Topley got his shoulder dislocated in the first RCB game of the season against the Mumbai Indians. Before injuring himself, he had bowled two overs of his quota and had managed to take a wicket as well. He was looking in a good rhythm. It was his debut IPL game, and he did not show signs of nervousness. But the injury spoiled his party and he had to be taken off the field.

Wayne Parnell, the experienced South African pacer has been roped in. This has been confirmed by the Royal Challengers Bangalore management. They got Wayne Parnell for 75 lakhs. Wayne has been in the business for over 12 years and knows exactly how things work. He has many variations while bowling. He is more of a death-over specialist. Parnell bowls the cutters, the wide yorker, and the slower balls. Royal Challengers Bangalore will ask him to bowl at the death with Harshal Patel.

Vyashak Vijay Kumar set to Replace Rajat Patidar for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in TATA IPL 2023:

Vyashak Vijay Kumar is a new name in the business. He has not played many first-class or domestic T20 games. He has been scouted by the RCB management. Kumar has played 14 T20 games and has scalped 22 wickets. RCB got him for a decent amount of 20 lakhs. He might be their surprise package for the opposition.

He played for Karnataka in the Indian domestic circuit. He has played with big Indian names like Manish Pandey, Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair, and Prasidh Krishna. Playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore will be a dream come true for the young man.

This is not the first time that Royal Challengers Bangalore has replaced a batter with a bowler or vice versa. Back in 2011, they replaced an injured Dirk Nannes with Chris Gayle and the rest is history. So, RCB has deployed these changes previously and they will hope that this move pays off well.
