While there’s no doubt about the ability of Chris Gayle as a batter, the veteran batter was asked about one player from the current lot that he enjoys watching. Speaking on Jio Cinema, he named current Indian skipper Rohit Sharma as his favourite batter. 

If we talk about Rohit Sharma, the batter has been the backbone of the Indian cricket team for the last one decade. The right-hander has already been amongst the greats of the game as he has played many famous knocks for the team and has guided them to victory.

Ever since Rohit started opening in 2013 he has looked a class apart and is currently the best opening batter going around in the world of cricket. Being the only batter with three ODI double tons, the 35-year-old has taken Indian Cricket to massive heights in world cricket. 

Not only in the ODIs, but Rohit has also been the lynchpin of the Indian lineup in Tests and T20Is as well. Being among the highest run-getters in the shortest format of the game, the senior opener has the most tons in the format. In the Tests, he is the leading run-scorer for his side in the history of the World Test Championship

Apart from Indian cricket, Rohit Sharma is a legend of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well. Not only as a player, but he has also been a remarkable captain as well. Ever since he was handed the responsibility to lead Mumbai Indians, he has looked like a completely different individual and apart from scoring truckloads of runs, he has guided to side to the record five titles. 

He led Mumbai Indians to the title record five times, winning in 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020 and apart from this, he also has won two champions league titles as well. He will be captain the team in the IPL 2023 as well and would want to win the 6th title after two poor outings in the last two seasons. The league will kick start from 31st March and MI will open their campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) 0n 2nd April.
