IPL 2021: Regrets for Not playing in Eden Gardens in IPL 2021: Harbhajan Singh.

IPL 2021: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently released the schedule for the much anticipated season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, the schedule took a toll on many players as this time BCCI has scrapped all the home and away advantages system.

According to the schedule released by BCCI, all eight franchises will play on neutral venues and teams will only travel thrice in the entire IPL season. The venues are – Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, Bangalore and Ahmedabad.

Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh, who will be seen playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2021 season, looked disappointed as they will not play in their home ground Eden Gardens.

As per the schedule, KKR will play its league stage games in Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bangalore.

Harbhajan Singh said he has a special place in his heart for Eden Gardens, having played many Test, T20I games there. His previous franchise, Mumbai Indians, has won two IPL titles in Eden Gardens.

Speaking to Star Sports, the veteran spinner said, “I have very good memories from Eden – Test, ODI – whatever cricket I have played there, even the two titles we had won there for the Mumbai Indians.”

“Whether the match is in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai or Mumbai, I am feeling good that the IPL is happening in India,” Singh said.

Ahead of the IPL auction, Chennai Super Kings released him, however, he was picked by KKR in the auction in his base price i.e., INR 2 Crores.

It was surprising to see KKR bid for Harbhajan Singh in the recent auctions. With the likes of Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav and Sunil Narine as their frontline spinners, it will be interesting to see how the franchise use Harbhajan Singh.
