RCB to shell out a massive sum to get leggie Rahul Chahar in IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

IPL 2022: The cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra reckon that the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will shell out a massive sum to fetch leg spinner Rahul Chahar’s services during the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. In his recent Youtube video, Chopra said that the franchise will break its bank to acquire Rahul Chahar, who has been released by Mumbai Indians (MI) following the player retention process.

RCB retained three players in Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammad Siraj. The franchise freed up seasoned campaigner Yuzvendra Chahal, who isn’t likely to be available for the mega auction as the new franchise will prioritise his services and probably acquire him before letting him go to the auction.

Meanwhile, five-times champion Mumbai Indians have also freed up Rahul Chahar which was pretty understandable. MI retained Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard during the player retentions.

Aakash Chopra feels that Rahul Chahar’s spin in Bangalore’s home ground M Chinnaswamy stadium will be deadly. He delivers the ball with speed and can be instrumental with the surface on offer.

“RCB will not get Rashid, they can forget about that. Instead, they will go after Rahul Chahar, big time. No spinners apart from leg spinners work at the Chinnaswamy stadium. He also bowls a lot quicker in the air. Ravi Bishnoi is also an option, but I’m thinking Rahul Chahar, they will break the bank for him. Chahal might not make it to the auctions,” Chopra said during a Q & A session on his YouTube channel.

Jason Holder as RCB’s new captain:

RCB will have a concern about their captaincy following Virat Kohli’s decision of stepping down from his role and playing just like a proper batsman in the team.

Several experts eye Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell as the probable captaincy material player, however, Aakash Chopra has suggested Jason Holder’s name for that role in RCB.

“For RCB, Jason Holder is also an option for captaincy. They need to buy a new captain and it could be Holder. When I think about the pitch over there and other things, I think Holder could be a valuable player. He does well in all the teams,” Chopra added.

The West Indies cricketer, Jason Holder played for SRH in the recently held IPL 2021. He has decent captaincy experience for the West Indies national team and is a key all-rounder as well.
