Ravindra Jadeja ruled out of Asia Cup 2022, Axar Patel named his cover: In a massive setback to the Indian team ahead of the Super Fours of the Asia Cup 2022, premier all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament after suffering an injury in his knee. The BCCI has subsequently roped in Axar Patel as his replacement.

Although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hasn’t updated on the extent of the injury or how it occurred, it seems that Jadeja may have taken a blow during India’s last match against Hong Kong in the Dubai International Stadium.

It’s important to note that, Ravindra Jadeja is a pivotal cog in the Indian T20I unit and his absence will leave a void in the team. Moreover, with Super Four fixtures coming up, India might miss the services of the elite left-arm all-rounder.

Jadeja played a crucial role in India’s victory against Pakistan a couple of nights ago. He was promoted to number 4 in the batting order against Pakistan to tackle the spin duo of Mohammad Nawaz and Shadab Khan. The move turned into a game-changer for the Men in Blue as Jadeja plundered 35 runs off 29 balls and took India close to victory.

Meanwhile, Axar Patel, who was earlier named in the reserves, has been drafted into the squad as the injury cover to Jadeja. This will be a blessing in disguise for Axar Patel, who has worked finely on his batting over the last couple of years.
