PM Modi congratulates team India after comprehensively defeating Pakistan in Asia Cup 2022: Indian Prime Minister on Sunday congratulated team India for a comprehensive victory against Pakistan and said that the Men in Blue put up a spectacular show to thrash the Pakistanis in their opening game of the Asia Cup 2022.

Rohit Sharma-led team India outclassed arch-rival Pakistan by five wickets in the high-octane clash in the Dubai International Stadium, last night.

“TeamIndia put up a spectacular all-round performance in today’s #AsiaCup2022 match. The team has displayed superb skill and grit. Congratulations to them on the victory,” wrote PM Modi.

Despite some early hiccups while batting, India continued its newly adopted aggressive approach and kept the upper hand against Pakistan in the 148 runs chase. Despite a slow start and doubting start, the Men in Blue soon managed to recover against the neighbours.

The two-paced wicket had everything for everyone. The batters felt jitters throughout the game while the bowlers got enormous assistance from the surface.

It was the penultimate over that decided the fate of the contest between India and Pakistan. India required 21 runs off 12 deliveries and Hardik Pandya along with Ravindra Jadeja were in the middle.

Hardik Pandya scored three boundaries and the two batters took two runs to bring down the equation to 7 runs in the last over. Mohammad Nawaz dismissed all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja in the first delivery of the final over.

Dinesh Karthik, the new batter in for Jadeja, took a single in the second ball and brought well-set Hardik Pandya to the strike. The dashing Baroda all-rounder then played a dot delivery before smoking a ball over to long off giving the finishing punch to the game.

The maximum from Pandya’s willow marked India’s win in the high-pressure contest by five wickets.
