Pakistan are set to tour Sir Lanka for a three-match T20I series starting from January 7. Big names dropped, Agha Salman to lead the Pakistan squad.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka are set to lock horns in a short but exciting three-match T20I series in January 2026, with all matches scheduled to be played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium. The series begins on January 7 and serves as an important preparation phase for Pakistan ahead of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.

PAK vs SL 2026 T20I Schedule

  • 1st T20I: January 7, 2026 – Dambulla, 7:00 PM (Local)
  • 2nd T20I: January 9, 2026 – Dambulla, 7:00 PM (Local)
  • 3rd T20I: January 11, 2026 – Dambulla, 7:00 PM (Local)

Pakistan have opted for a fresh-looking T20I squad, resting several senior players. Big names like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf have been left out, as they are currently participating in the Big Bash League.

The leadership responsibility has been handed to Salman Ali Agha, while experienced all-rounder Shadab Khan makes a return to the national side despite featuring in the BBL for Sydney Thunder. His inclusion highlights Pakistan’s focus on balance and versatility ahead of the World Cup.

A major talking point is the selection of uncapped batter Khawaja Nafay, who earns his maiden T20I call-up after impressive performances in domestic T20s and the Pakistan Super League. The right-hander has scored 688 runs in 32 T20 matches at a healthy strike rate of 132.81, making him one of the players to watch.

Pakistan T20I Squad: Salman Ali Agha (c), Abdul Samad, Abrar Ahmad, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Khawaja Nafay, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Salman Mirza, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Naseem Shah, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan, Usman Khan, Usman Tariq
