In the do-or-die contest with South Africa, Pakistan scored 270 runs before getting bundled out in 47 overs. Skipper Babar Azam scored a fine half-century along with Saud Shakeel, who scored 53 runs. There were some other valuable contributions from Mohammad Rizwan and Shadab Khan, which helped Pakistan post 270 runs.

But, it was far from done for Pakistan, as they slipped towards the end of the innings. Pakistan required just one wicket to win the game and South Africa needed seven runs. There was tension around in both camps, but South Africa eventually prevailed and defeated Pakistan by 1 wicket.

South Africa, on the other hand, is placed comfortably at the top of the World Cup 2023 points table with five victories from six matches. The Proteas will easily move to the semis of the ongoing tournament even if they get defeated in a couple of their next games.
