PAK vs NZ T20I Series: The “Blackcaps” are all set to tour Pakistan in mid-April for a five-match T20I series. The five-match T20I series will be played from the 18th April across the two selected venues in Pakistan. Pakistan toured New Zealand a couple of months ago where they played a five-match T20I series. Both sides played with their respective full-strength teams where Shaheen Shah Afridi led Pakistan and Kane Williamson led New Zealand. The home side won the tournament by 4-1. Finn Allen and Babar Azam were two standout performers for their respective teams.
Babar Azam stepped out of Captaincy duties and Shaheen Afridi was handed over the role in the T20I format. Now, after a mediocre performance of the team under Shaheen’s leadership, Babar Azam is reappointed as the skipper of Pakistan in white ball format.
In this tour of New Zealand to Pakistan, the first match of the tournament will be played on April 18 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi and it will mark the reappointment of Babar Azam as the skipper of Pakistan T20I side in the T20 World Cup Year.
Rawalpindi will host the next two matches as well on the 20th and 21st April and then teams will move to Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. Teams will have a gap of 4 days between 3rd and 4th T20I and one day between 4th and 5th T20I. The final game will also be contested at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Pakistan are expected to enter the series with a full-strength team and full-scale T20 World Cup preparation mode while New Zealand will be missing many key players due to their IPL commitments. In the absence of Kane Williamson and Tim Southee, Micheal Bracewell is all set to lead the Blackcaps in Pakistan.
