No Babar Azam, Rizwan & Haris Rauf! Pakistan’s Predicted T20I Squad for South Africa Series Revealed
South Africa Tour of Pakistan 2025 is set to start from October 12, 2025, but a surprising report claims that some key players like Babar Azam, Haris Rauf, and Saim Ayub are expected to miss the three-matches T20I series against South Africa on their home soil. However, Babar Azam is part of Pakistan's test squad and expected to be added in the ODIs as well.
After Pakistan National Cricket Team failed to lift the Asia Cup 2025 Trophy against India and lost the final match by 5 wickets. Pakistan lost three consecutive games in the Asia Cup 2025 itself, which includes one group stage, one Super 4, and a final match. Lots of players were not able to perform, and they might be excluded from the squad.
Why are the Big Names Missing?
However, Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam was expected to make a comeback in the T20I squad, but as per the report, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is looking for the future, and they are going to stick with the same young team. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is just a few months away, so making heavy changes in the team might lead to an imbalanced squad.
Pakistan’s star pacer Haris Rauf, who was the leading pacer of Pakistan along with Shaheen Shah Afridi in the Asia Cup 2025, but he failed to match his own expectations, he conceded 50 runs in 3.4 overs against India in the Asia Cup 2025 Final.
Salman Ali Agha to lead Pakistan’s T20I side despite Asia Cup failure
Salman Ali Agha was leading the Pakistan National Cricket Team in the Asia Cup 2025, but failed to let his team lift the trophy. Salman played poor cricket throughout the tournament, he scored only 72 runs in 7 innings at an average of 12. He didn’t even score a single half-century in the Asia Cup 2025.
Despite having such a devastating performance, he is still going to lead the Pakistan team in the upcoming T20I series against South Africa. Pakistan team management has to seriously look into this matter as the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is expected to start in February 2026.
Fakhar and Farhan are expected to retain their position
Both the batters have shown exceptional cricketing skills throughout the tournament and as a result, they are expected to be part of Pakistan’s T20I squad for the South Africa series. Fakhar Zaman scored 181 runs in 7 innings, whereas Sahibzada Farhan made 217 runs in 7 innings and was the leading run-scorer from the Pakistan side.
