New Zealand becomes the first team to reach the finals of ICC World Test Championship 2021.

ICC World Test Championship 2021: New Zealand becomes the first team to qualify for the finals of the ICC World Test Championship after Cricket Australia cancelled their tour to South Africa due to Covid-19 pandemic.

With Australia pulling back for the test series in South Africa, New Zealand eventually becomes the first team to hold the finals as no team can now breach New Zealand’s percentage points of 70. The second team to reach the finals of the ICC World Test Championship will be decided after the India-England test series.

“All to play for in the upcoming India v England series with three teams able to meet New Zealand in the final of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship,” the ICC tweeted.

Right Now after the Australia tour, India is at the top with 71 percentage points and New Zeland are second with 70 per cent while Australia is at number three.

Chances of India, England and Australia for the ICC World Test Championship:

India and England have an equal chance of reaching the finals of the inaugural World Test Championship while Australia will have to do a lot of permutation and combination to play against New Zealand.

India will be the second finalist if India wins two games against England in the upcoming Test Series. While England chances for the finals will open if they defeat India in the test series with at least three wins.

India and England four games test series will begin on 05th February and all the players from both the sides have cleared the covid-19 tests.

If the four-game test series between India and England ends up on draw then there will be an open chance for Australia to sneak in and make it to the finals of ICC World Test championship.

The inaugural edition of ICC World Test Championship will be held at Lords from 18th June.
