The Narendra Modi Stadium has six black soil pitches and five red soil pitches which can be used on an alternate basis by the curators. The red soil offers more assistance to the seamers as compared to the black ones. Even the black ones are decent enough for bowlers, who particularly enjoy bowling with enough bounce. The surface tends to go slower as the game progresses and spinners come into play.

The batters have generally got good help off the surface. The initial few overs may be grueling, but once the eyes are set, then it’s just similar to a batting paradise. The ICC World Cup 2023 matches will be held in day-night fixtures, so the dew factor will come into play which will make batting even better in the second innings.
