Virat Kohli Congratulates Shami on being honored with the Arjuna Award: A big day for Indian cricket as India’s fearsome fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who took the most wickets in the recently concluded ICC ODI World Cup 2023, is awarded the Arjuna Award by the hon President of India. Virat Kohli and many other big names offered praise to him.

Mohammed Shami, who was called in as a replacement for Hardik Pandya in the World Cup 2023, was the most wicket-taker bowler in the least matches played in the top 20 bowlers. He only played seven matches out of the team’s 11 matches and picked up as many as 24 wickets in the tournament and played a massive role in team India’s considerable achievements in the tournament.

Shami was awarded the second highest sports award in India ‘the Arjuna Award’ on 09 January by the Honorable President of India SMT Droupadi Murmu.

Upon the announcement of Shami’s Arjuna Award achievement, fans, teammates, and other cricket players applauded him on social media. The cricket community recognized Shami’s commitment, diligence, and skills, all of which have greatly aided Indian cricket’s success on the international front.

Mohammed Shami’s journey to the Arjuna Award is marked by exceptional performances and a relentless commitment to the game. Not only in the ODI World Cup 2023, but he also took the limelight in the test format throughout the year.

Virat Kohli Congratulates Shami

Replying to his post, Virat Kohli wrote “Mubarak Ho Lala”. Not only him, the sports minister of India, Mr Anurag Thakur also praised him and wrote “Congratulations to @MdShami11 for having a record-breaking year in 2023 and spearheading our team’s effort in the Cricket World Cup. It was a pleasure watching you bowl. Many congratulations to you on being conferred the Arjuna Award.”

A day before the event, the seasoned pacer expressed gratitude for the much-coveted honor and remarked that not everyone could earn it, even after years of hard effort.

“This award is a dream; life passes and people are not able to win this award. I am happy that I have been nominated for this award. It is like a dream for me to get this award because my whole life I have seen many people receiving this award,” Shami had told ANI.
