Vivo IPL 2021: Will MS Dhoni retire after the Vivo IPL 2021 Completion?

Vivo IPL 2021: MS Dhoni penalised Rupees 12 Lakhs for maintaining slow over-rate against Delhi Capitals.

Vivo IPL 2021: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni has been fined INR 12 Lakhs in the first game of his side against Delhi Capitals at Wankhede Stadium last night for maintaining a slow over-rate. 

Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals recorded the first win of the tournament in the game against Chennai Super Kings last night. DC chased down a total of 188 runs in just 18.4 overs.

“Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 match against Delhi Capitals at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on April 10. As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr Dhoni was fined Rs 12 lakh,” read an official release from IPL.

The former Indian skipper was penalised with just one fine as it was his first offence of the season. However, as per the new rules, multiple offences can suspend the skipper for one match or maybe two.

According to the new IPL rules, each team has to complete 20 overs on or before 90 minutes including two strategic time out of two and half minutes. The over rate has to be maintained at 14.1 overs per hour in this season.

“The rules are implemented to control the match timings. Now the 20th over is included in the time limit and it must be finished on or before 90 minutes. Earlier, the 20th over has to begin on or before the 90th minute.”
