MS Dhoni confirms to play at least one more season of the Indian Premier League.

Vivo IPL: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni has shed curtains on the speculations revolving around the internet about his retirement post the completion of the Vivo IPL 2021. The senior wicketkeeper-batsman in a programme celebrating 75 years of India Cements, made it open that Vivo IPL 2021 is definitely going to be his last IPL season.

Dhoni is going through a rough patch in his batting career, where he has predominantly struggled to score runs easily. The CSK skipper has just managed to plunder 84 runs from 13 innings at a poor average of 14.

The modest batting display from the cricketer has forced his fans to think of the retirement after the IPL 2021, however, Dhoni has confirmed that he will play his last match in Chennai’s Chaepuk Stadium.

One of the India Cement dealers asked why he (Dhoni) drawn curtains on his international career without a farewell game and particularly why 15th August was chosen to announce his retirement, to which Dhoni replied, “It can’t be a better day than that — 15th August. When it comes to the farewell, you can always come and see me play for CSK and that can be my farewell game. You will still get that opportunity to bid me farewell. Hopefully we’ll come to Chennai and will play my last game over there and I can meet all my fans,” Dhoni said during a live session on CSK’s YouTube page.

When asked about the continuous winning run of the side in the IPL 2021, MS asserted that the team focuses on the process and not on the results.

“We plan well and try to ensure that the process is right and don’t think too much about the results. That helps us do well…And the success is not just about me, it is about the fact that a great team in place,” said MS Dhoni.
