Virat Kohli is the most expensive after being retained at 17 Crore Indian Rupees, but in terms of buying, it is Chris Morris. Rajasthan Royals spent this whopping amount on the all-rounder. Pat Cummins became the third most expensive player in the IPL Auction 2020 when KKR bought him for 15.5 Cr. Cummins was coming from a good phase in his red-ball career. Cummins also gives a good and dependable batting option at number 7 and hence he earned more. Gautam Gambhir severely criticized this decision of KKR to break the bank for one player only.

Kyle Jamieson, the 6-feet+ monster bagged a big contract in the IPL 2021 Auction. The Auction saw several franchises break the bank. Ben Stokes became the most expensive player in the 2017 IPL Auction after Rising Pune Super Giants bought him for 14.5 Crore Indian Rupees. Ben Stokes scored a 100 for the Super Giants in that season. He also bowled very well. He is one player who was able to justify the price tag associated.
