She informed her fans with a social media post, saying, “Thank you for all your love & support over the years.”

The trailblazer ended her illustrious cricketing career with 7805 ODI runs, most by any women cricketer in the ODIs, in 232 format appearances.

“I feel now is the perfect time to call curtains on my playing career as the team is in the capable hands of some very talented young players and the future of Indian Cricket is bright,” wrote Mithali Raj in her tweet posted to announce her international retirement.

Mithali Raj, one of the most celebrated women cricketers in the world, has amassed 10,868 runs throughout her career, which also makes her the leading run-getter across formats.

She has also slammed a double ton in her only 12 test matches and is the only Indian woman cricketer to achieve the feat.

Mithali Raj’s ODI career spanned 232 matches in which she managed to score 7805 runs at an average in excess of 50. She celebrated 7 centuries and 64 half-centuries in the 50 overs format. She had retired from the shortest format back in 2019 after featuring in 89 matches and 2364 runs.

“I set out as a little girl on the journey to wear the India blues as representing your country is the highest honour. The journey was full of highs and some lows, wrote the former Indian Woman’s skipper, Mithali Raj in her tweet.
