France superstar Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid transfer saga might be seeing its end since the Frenchman has been looking to extend his contract with PSG amid talks of his transfer to the La Liga side.

Many reports claimed that PSG and Kylian Mbappe weren’t happy with the offer from Real Madrid and were looking for a contract extension. However, the latest offer from the Spanish legends would make him the costliest star in the current Los Blancos squad. Compared to the offer made by the club in 2022, the current proposal is lower.

Previously, Real Madrid put forward a bid of $140 million to lure him away from PSG. The player currently receives a net salary of $80.8 million before bonuses at PSG, and according to The Athletic, Real Madrid cannot match this figure.

Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid is in real doubt

The all-time top goalscorer for PSG, Kylian Mbappe was approached by the Spanish legends Real Madrid earlier this year for a transfer in the summer. Real Madrid also made an offer back in 2022 that was rejected by the Frenchman as he stayed with PSG.

According to sources cited by 90min, PSG has proposed a contract to Mbappe worth €70 million per year before taxes. Additionally, they are willing to retroactively return his €80 million loyalty bonus, which he had waived last summer. This offer comes with the condition that PSG receives a legally binding assurance that they won’t suffer financial losses if Mbappe departs on a free transfer after declining the one-year renewal option on his current contract.

Furthermore, PSG has granted permission for Mbappe to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics with the French national team if he agrees to the terms of the contract. Despite the tournament overlapping with Euro 2024 and extending from late July to mid-August, PSG is supportive of Mbappe’s involvement. This would result in Mbappe being absent from club duties for nearly three months, accounting for pre-tournament preparations, match fixtures, and necessary rest periods for both events.

Mbappe possesses the qualities to become the emblematic figure of a club, thereby boosting Real Madrid’s worldwide reputation. Additionally, a transfer to Madrid could boost Mbappe’s club trajectory, which has somewhat plateaued at PSG. PSG’s inability to contend strongly for the Champions League has hindered Mbappe’s career progression, making a move to Real Madrid potentially beneficial for his development.
