The Indian opener is currently at the National Cricket Academy, Bangalore undergoing rehabilitation and recovery from covid. Rahul has undergone sports hernia surgery in Germany towards the end of June.

Recently, the BCCI shared a video across its social media accounts of the T20I series-bound Indian players. While the likes of Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Dinesh Karthik among others were seen joining the Indian ODI squad in Trinidad, the fans were curious to know where Rahul was.

“He was understood to be a doubt for the T20I leg of the West Indies tour even if he returned the two mandatory negative tests. Depending on the outcome of his cardiovascular tests, Rahul could have been in consideration for the USA leg of the West Indies T20Is, on August 6 and 7. But now it appears certain that he will skip the tour altogether and instead focus on the ODIs in Zimbabwe, which are part of the World Cup Super League,” said the report published on ESPNcricinfo.

Notably, Rahul, who led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Tata IPL 2022, is out of cricketing action since the end of the IPL. KL Rahul was named skipper of the Indian T20I squad for the home series against South Africa, however, he missed the series due to his injury.

Rahul is anticipated to make a comeback during India’s ODI tour of Zimbabwe in August.
