Jasprit Bumrah is one of the most important players for the Indian cricket team. Rohit Sharma, the Indian cricket team skipper, held a press conference on the eve of the first ODI against Sri Lanka, which is to be played at Guwahati on Tuesday. In this press conference, Rohit gave many insights into the team atmosphere and, most importantly, spoke about the fitness of Jasprit Bumrah, who happens to be the ace of pace in Indian cricket currently. Here is an in-depth look at what he had to say and also some details about Jasprit Bumrah that were given to the media by a BCCI official:

When enquired about the details of why Jasprit Bumrah was pulled out at the last moment from the ODI series against Sri Lanka, this is what the Indian captain had to say, “The poor guy has been working really hard at the NCA. He felt stiffness in his back a couple of days ago. If Bumrah is saying he is not feeling well, you have to pull him out. We need to be extra careful with Bumrah.”

Earlier Bumrah was fast-tracked from his recovery so that he could be a part of the Indian cricket team in the Asia Cup 2022. But due to that, Jasprit missed out on the T20 World Cup held in Australia. So, fast-tracking Bumrah from an injury earlier has cost the Indian cricket team. Repeating the same mistake would not be the ideal thing to do. The team has significant events like the WTC final, the ODI World Cup 2023, and the Asia Cup 2023 too.

Jasprit Bumrah asked to Stay fit for “at least 3 Tests Against Australia and WTC Final”:

A BCCI Official recently gave details about what priorities have been set for Jasprit Bumrah and why his recovery has not been fast-tracked. He said, “As things stand now, he has been told that the team needs him for the test series at home against Australia. He has been asked to stay fit for at least 3 test matches and then the WTC final if the Indian team qualifies for it. Further, he has to be fit for the ODI World Cup which will be held in October and November 2023. Just a few ODI matches before the World Cup will also suffice.”

Further, he added, “Bumrah is an exception. He is too good a bowler and doesn’t need much time to hit his stride. Opponents always vary about him. He will be played only if he feels 100 percent about himself.”
