ENGvsIND: Is the five-game Test series against England all over for injured Shubman Gill?

ENGvsIND: To add more woes to team India, the young opening batsman Shubman Gill has recently sustained a shin stress injury which will push the cricketer out of action for at least two months, confirmed a senior BCCI official to PTI.

Gill is highly unlikely to get a game in the upcoming India vs England five match Test series, starting in Nottingham on August 4.

“Shubman has sustained a shin stress fracture, which will keep him out of action for a minimum of two months, which effectively rules him out of the first three Tests against England in August,” PTI quoted a BCCI source as saying.

The official further said that it is next to impossible and a race against time to get him for the last two test matches against England in September.

“It will be a race against time to get him fit for the final two Test matches in September after completing rehabilitation,” he added.

The Shin Stress Fractures are not very threatening but consume a lot of time to heal properly. The Shin Fractures normally take over three months time to get completely healed, however, the shin stress fracture recovers in eight to ten weeks.

KL Rahul or Mayank Agarwal will replace the youngster in the playing11. India has also carried a back opener in Abhimanyu Easwaran who can also be called.

It still remains the question whether Gill will remain back with the team in the UK or will head back home and undergo his rehab in National Cricket Academy (NCA) Bangalore.
