IPL Points Table: A clinical win for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Punjab Kings (PBKS) as they continue their winning run in the ongoing TATA IPL 2024. RCB handed a crushing defeat to PBKS at the Dharmshala Cricket Stadium by 60 runs in match 58 of the tournament. The Faf du Plessis-led side remains alive in the IPL Points Table.

Punjab required a lion-hearted effort to chase the colossal 241-run target set by the RCB. Though, PBKS got a few good partnerships, but they lost untimely wickets, which kept hampering their asking rate and eventually resulted in the loss.

After the dismissal of Prabhsimran Singh in the first over of the innings, Jonny Bairstow and Rilee Rossouw stitched a good partnership of 65 runs in the powerplay. The two batters made full use of the powerplay restrictions and kept the scoreboard ticking with their sublime strokeplay, with Rossouw being the aggressor.

Later, Rossouw partnered with Shashank Singh, following the dismissal of Bairstow (27 runs), to add another 36 runs to the score. However, Karn Sharma posed as a roadblock to Rossouw’s onslaught in the 9th over.

Well-set Rilee Rossouw was dismissed after a magnificent knock of 61 runs in 27 deliveries. Post Rossouw’s wicket none of the PBKS batters managed to get hold of the surface. Even Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma, who have appeared as the revelation for PBKS, couldn’t resist the scoreboard pressure and succumbed eventually.

PBKS lost wickets on the bounce and RCB were placed comfortably in the fixture to win it. Pacer Mohammad Siraj scalped three wickets, while two apiece were picked by Swapnil Singh, Lockie Ferguson and Karn Sharma.

Eventually, RCB put an end to Punjab’s struggle in 181 runs after playing out 17 overs.

Earlier in the game, RCB posted a humongous 241 runs on the scoreboard owing to a fantastic batting display from Virat Kohli, who played a sublime 47-ball 92-run knock. The innings also saw an outburst from Rajat Patidar, who contributed with a 23-ball 55-run innings, which included 6 sixes and three fours.

Towards the end of the first innings, Cameron Green also flexed his muscles as he played 46 runs knock in 27 deliveries.

A comprehensive batting effort, which saw RCB post 241 runs, followed by a scathing bowling attack helped RCB win the fixture against PBKS by 60 runs.
